Dbarton62 I'm glad you were able to successfully install it! I just finished installing mine right now. I couldn't record it as I needed both hands most of the time but I did take pictures. Below are the instructions as to how I* installed my spoiler;

1) I washed the trunk area where the spoiler sits, I used McGuiars soap and scrubbed with a microfiber towel. Rinsed and dried the area. Next, I washed the spoiler. Even though it was very nicely packed and clean, there's small dust particles on the bottom surface. If Customs touched it with their bare hands (or gloves), there's a possibility of dust so I washed it and dried it.
2) I used rubbing alcohol on the black surface of the spoiler, let it air dry within a few minutes and used the 3M tape sent in the box. I chose to cut the tape in 3-4 inch sections and used two rows of tape along the spoiler.
3) next, I cleaned the trunk area with rubbing alcohol and let it air dry. Before I did all this, i of course test fitted the spoiler on trunk to know how I was gonna install it and where it would sit best with the minimum sight of the gaps as possible. There was a little less than a millimeter on the left and right side of the spoiler where the trunk meets the fender at the top. That's how I mainly guided myself and also making sure that the rear spoiler was flush with the rear of trunk.
4) I used lights on each side of the trunk and pointed them from the back of the car to the front towards the spoiler to be able to see the gaps clearer. The more I perfected the fit, the less light I saw coming in.
5) I used alcohol once more on the body of the car to make sure there was no chemicals or dust to prevent adhesion. I removed all of the red side of tape on the spoiler from left to right, I got the blow dryer and heated up the trunk area and then the tape immediately after. As soon as that was heated, I sat the spoiler in place, and pressed as hard as possible without breaking the spoiler obviously. I pressed for one minute each section. I used my right forearm on the right side of tail while using my left forearm to hold down the left side. I don't have super long arms so I did this in sections. I have weighted boxes sitting on top of the spoiler right now (protected by microfiber cloths) to keep pressure for at least 24 hours. I'll wash the car tomorrow and go for a spin, I'll follow up with you guys. BTW, I sat this to the best of my ability. Understanding that this aftermarket piece won't fit perfectly, I made mine look VERY OEM! Gaps? What gaps!? I even made the tape stick to both top and bottom surfaces in those gaps!

Beedub, sorry man couldn't do the video but I got plenty of pics dbarton. Only problem is I can't post them not sure why. If anyone wants to see the pics, PM me your email or phone number and I'll send them your way, you could share here if you want.

talk us through what you did to get it right?? i know you heated and pulled it down, any damage to the clear coat??

i guess another way would be too heat on the radiator so the piece is warmed totally through, and place weights on the out sections , as it cools it should form but this method may damage the coating on the piece.

Disclaimer right off the bat. Do this at your own risk. It worked for me , no guarantees.

Ahead of doing any work on top of your bootlid lay down sufficient masking tape so the paint does not get scuffed.

First set your lip in its final position on the boot lid, tape it in place if it does not stay in place. Lay masking tape on the spoiler where you want to decrease the gaps.

Second remove lip and add additional tape either side of where you marked the spoiler.

Third see photo below....I spaced up the spoiler at its centre and placed 2 binder straps across the taped areas and pulled the spoiler down until the tips hit the belt. Then I added 2-3 clicks on the ratchet and heated for approx. 30 seconds on each side. I removed test fitted and rejigger as many times as it took adding 1 click on the ratchet each time.

Edit...the wife's hair dryer works well on medium setting for heating.

Be careful not to heat too long or too close, I did smell solvent on one of the heating cycles which tells me the resins were reactivating. As I said at the outset do this at your own risk.
Hope this helps.

Let the car sit for 24 hours and took some more shots today. The first picture shows the gap as best as possible, but I can confirm that there is no sunlight visible and from most angles it looks like a factory piece. In comparison to the CF mirror caps I bought off ebay (absolute crap), the fitment is night and day.

GOT MINE!

So I got this a while back but I decided to stop by at the post office to pick it up. So...

First off- the moment I saw it, my heart kinda sank. The box looked like it went through hell and I honestly didnt think it'd survive but after going through all of it and opening it up, miraculously, there wasnt even a scratch.

So far I have only done a quick test fit and I can agree with other that there is a verrrryyy slight gap. However Im sure some heat, good clamps, and some strong adhesive tape should do the job. I'll be painting mine so I probably wont get around to installing it for a while.

BUT, it looks amazing. For a stock car, with extremely minor cosmetic changes, it looks OEM. Ive got some before and after shots (that are absolutely crap) but they show the difference.

mines on!!!!

jesus christ... its on...

ok so I've spent 5 days heating and bending this item as per Dbarton and with fitting it very slightly off on the one side ( tiny tiny stuff)combined with the bending the gap is now pretty much even all the way around, the item is on the car and looking fantastic!! If anyone is having to go out route be real careful with the bending process and take you time with each click of the ratchet strap.

id like to thank the OP, the quality of this part is very very good, the pressure it took from the straps to even bend it slightly was no joke!!! it seems the initial was was indeed out as mine took quite abit of bending to bring in line, anyhow its done and looks so so good.

i just need to point out that the op throughout ALL of this has never once took the piss, he offered a refund immediately no moaning no bullshit, didnt expect me to go to the lengths i have done to fit .... this guy is about as stand up as they come! jordan, iv got nothing but respect for you. If i can give any advice it would be to get the company to send you a couple of pieces for you can keep a check on quality control other than that them and yourself are a class act.

this is after all an aftermarket piece is will always be slightly out in places.

this looks great but i dont think your installer has completed this to a satisfactory level.... theirs 2 places that even in these pics I'm seeing the tape underneath, (the tape appears white when its stressed the shape of this piece is going to need some sort of black silicone to get that clean finish, I've spent 2 days adding, removing and re adding silicone and its a nightmare lol... the perfectionist in me wont let me stop until i get it as near damnit. Tonight i finally got their, i used a syringe ( i kid you not) to lay it as neat as i could o the initial edge/ just underside front section , then run my finger to get a nice even clean line , repeat as many times as needed until you get the finish your happy with.

i'll take some pics when the weather clears!! looks really really good, I've now left it alone but as i started to go backwards constantly trying to refine it.... its as good as it will ever be and no way would any installer have took this level of effort.

This double sided tape is seriously strong stuff, its literally like its glued on now... i had no idea this 3m tape is this good.

Just lucked into one of these second hand. Didn't even know this was a thing until yesterday and now I have one in hand. Fitment issues are as others have noted. Certainly manageable, though I don't think any amount of "let it sit in the sun" is going to move this thing, it's very solid. I will say, at least on mine, the carbon fiber work is downright impressive. It's absolutely flawless. Looks badass on a silver car as pictured higher up in the thread.

I have to disagree.
2nd pic at the very end of the lip at its point.
Definitely tape that has squished out.

Not nitpicking but not what I would have paid for to have done.

The black gasket maker when applied sparingly and carefully makes a nice neat transition.

nope its defintely the tape, mine was showing exactly the same in that area and it looked terrible, look at the first pic 11 o'clock position, the the tape not heating both surfaces and being stretched.

also you can see where they have extended the tape right to the very edge... it doesnt look nice imo and not what i expect from a professional fitter.

mines not quite as neat as this.... but really close, the silicone was a nightmare to apply and very messy..... i could have carried on and on applying for days as no matter how much i did it, the perfectionist in me kept saying trying again!! not neat enough, in the end i settled and it looks pretty damn good, i even did a really nice silicone section on the end pieces!

I'll take some close ups when i get home.

Sorry you guys are right, I just zoomed in to the pics and can totally see the tape. I would've been upset if I paid for that and would've told them to redo it. Barton that doesn't look so bad. Will be waiting to see those pics of your install Beedub!

ok so heres my effort, this piece needs work to make it REALLY right for the car... you can just stick it on and forget but.... theirs too many gaps etc for this approach i love the piece so much i just had to give it the effort it deserves, it really makes the car look super nice, you need to really take your time and fill the gaps, when you do... the piece REALLY comes into its own..

again it took me over 2 days to get right and even now i could go try to perfect it all over again.... imo no bodyshop would take the effort i did to get this worthy of my pride and joy.

i used a medical syringe and injected it across the the front underside edges, and end pieces.... i did the end pieces because if you got level you could see the end of the tape, even if you recessed it slightly. Note: one side of my spoiler end piece was a different shape to the other so i had to work with that too.

these pics are up close and with the flash on so your seeing this at its WORST.... I'm pretty pleased! i think Dbartons work is neater but overall i think we've both done an excellent job.

Ross... Lets see yours up close and personal especially as your hasnt got any gaps to start with, yours must make my attempt look feeble.

end piece fill,

other side end piece work

tucked up
