I finally did it-

After dealing with the JVT issue, I decided to go back to my original plan and buy top shelf parts for my car as I have so far. No knock to JVT, just my experience.

Drum roll please...........................

Active Autowerke Headers (definitely not cheap) but I love the build quality and since I plan to keep the car for a long time it is money well spent in my book. B/c of the shytty economy, I bought locally from a tuning shop and I am sure they had a reasonable margin but I would like to know they will be around in a year so I kept my money here in the local market. I know I could have saved a hundered bucks or so out of state but I feel good about helping my local community if you know what I mean. Not to completely free associate, but we all should try to do more with our local tuning shops or we might have only our beloved dealers to work with in the future.

I am not sure how long they take to come in, but my tuning shop will install with my coilovers later this month...I want to make sure I am through most of winter here in chicago. I will update more later.

Make sure they give you a very good price on the install since you bought them from them and this car is WAY easier then an e46. Once the stock headers were out I could literally tighten every nut with a 1/4 inch air ratchet, which by itself is not the biggest feat, the impressive part was by only using one length of extension O_O.

No SCer for me for a while. I want you and earl to work it out for a year or so before I jump in.

Oh- Install of the header and coilovers is dirt cheap(Shockingly cheap). I am making up the cost on that end of the equation for sure.

Ocha- I should also ask about my section 1. I plan to keep the stock secondary cats in to keep volume down and make my emissions better. How much power am I leaving on the table by not deleting my secondary cats do you think?

Not much. Very minimal to be honest.

I will probably do a dyno in a while with the resonated section 1 I had (the others were with the cats). I doubt it would be more then even 5 hp at this point really. Our secondaries are ridiculous.

If wheather permits I definitely will. Oh, and I found a guy that makes custom carbon fiber panels for our cars...roof, hood or whatever. The quality is amazing and looks so much better than TC Kline roof. I will probably buy the carbon fiber roof as my final mod for a little while unless the price is really crazy. More on that later.

sweet. tck charges reidiculous.

since it cost about 350 for a piece of carbon fiber material the size of our roof, it is a fairly easy wrap job, and then the have to do the resin. that is like 300 percent mark up. i can around 500 or maybe even 750. that is my opinion on it.

I am sure it will be more than that but these guys have custom molds for our car and use Kevlar backing vs. much cheaper backing TCK uses. Also, they had TCK roof that I could look at side by side and the difference in quality was ubeleivable. Here is that wide body Carbon Z4 they are building that will weigh 2500lbs. Items like the roof and hood are a direct fit for our cars without going for the rest of the body. Oh- this car also is getting the M5 V10!!!!!

X2

Headers installed. A review will come later once I put some more miles on them and give my ESS tuned DME a chance to adjust to them.

Well I checked out the carbon price and it is very expensive. More than TCK...the quality is proportionally better too but I cannot justify it. The roof/installation was ~2700.00. I am sure the hood would be in the same ballpark. They did not advise the rear hatch unless it was for a race car b/c they would not be able to use glass on the rear hatch (I am not sure if they would use some Lexan or whatever they use in race cars). In any event, I believe Earl's BMS roof is the best deal at 1600.00ish. If you guys want these parts, Fall-Line motorsports is the shop and Tim is the contact. Hope that helps you uber wealthy guys out

Nice, I'm getting my suspension installed this upcoming week as well. I think the most useful carbon fiber body piece would probably be front fenders. Think about it, not only would be be saving weight in the front which is harder to come by, but it would also potentially allow for us to run larger tires up front.
