What oil is best
Ok so I have tried to do a little research to find out the best weight of oil to use on my 03 Z4 non m. I am now more confused than ever. Some people say 5w-30 other are saying 10w-60. Which is it?

10W60 is normally used for z4m.
You can use that if you live/drive in a hot climate or if your engine burns a little oil (like 1qt/1k miles) 5w30 is more normal useage.

As mentioned, 10W60 is only used on the M (S54 engine). You should be fine with 5W30 as indicated in your owner's manual for your 3.0i (M54 engine).
FYI...I'm using Mobil1 0W40 on my 3.0i X5, same M54 engine as your Z4 because it meets BMW's long life specs and it's readily available at most stores. Also, the "search" feature is really neat on this site |

And it has to be European formula with the LL01/A3 rating not North Anerican grade oil which is A1 spec shear value... The A3 rating starts where the A1 leaves off... A3 minimum rating is A1 maximum rating for shear value of the oil...
