For some cars, yes - mine came from the factory with the H5 (and factory slide-in side bracket for same). I replaced it with the longer H6, and had to buy the shorter BMW bracket to secure it properly. I put the part numbers in the spreadsheet comments.

Anyone have any experience with either the Deka ETX20L or the Odyssey PC680? For some reason, my battery died while on a battery tender. Have no idea why, but I may as well get a new battery, it was being weird anyways.

I'm about to purchase another trickle charger. Looking at the Noco g1100. There are a few different versions of the charger. This one will work with Agm batteries but the advanced charger will also charge Agm+ batteries. I think the O Reilly's 48PLT battery is a regular Agm battery but I can't find any data that confirms this. Do you or anyone else know if this is an Agm only battery and not Agm+?

@dc_wright ~2.5 years. Got it from NAPA. I think it may have been draining from the ipod interface installed by the PO, because this is the second battery in 4 years that has died on me.
I've since removed the ipod thing (not that I thought it was the culprit, but still) Annnnnnnnddddd no bueno. That battery is toast. Still haven't driven it. been a lil over a month. Just waiting on my life to calm down so I can take care of this car. So much friggin stuff to do.

Finnegan It sucks because I love driving, and I love this car so much and I swear anytime I think, "oh finally, I have some downtime to work on this thing and drive it", BAM, heres something else I need to do. Its frustrating because Ive been obsessed with cars ever since I was out of the womb and now that Im old enough/have the resources, theres absolutely no time to enjoy it. -lil OT rant, but it needed to get out there.
Anyways, now that I have 20 minutes to spare in my life, anyone got any experience with those batteries? Ive done a little research on both and I needa get this car up and running soon, so Ill probably order it later tomorrow. Just wanted to make a last call.

So off on the philosophical and rant stuff, I used to wonder why folks didn't DIY everything. I mean, if you can do it, why not do it? But after being faced with the dilemma of "I can spend 8 hours working on the car, then have no time to drive it, or have someone else do some work so I can use the time to drive the thing", I settled on the good indy shop approach for multi-hour work. Gotta say I hate it (good indy too) but I also hate not having time to drive/unwind too. But man it pains me. Just less than not driving! The dilemma is you can add more money, or cut spending and do any number of things on the money front. But time is finite and fixed. No matter how much money you have there are only 24 hours in a day. I've added a concept of time debt to my thinking. That means setting up a time budget and removing few things (things themselves or DIYs) to reduce time debt. It's still a work in progress. Hope the battery thing works out! |

Still on my original AGM 11+ years? Looking to replace it; have the BMW (EXIDE) OE replacement in the garage (5 years on a smart charger); it weighs 53lbs I would like to shed some weight... What are the Track enthusiasts doing? Car never sees winter and I use a BatteryTender when not using the car.
Thanks!

Great Thread!
I am finally participating in the forum, and glad I am. I know this is a late post, but I appreciate all of the information available. Need to replace battery after 5 years of ownership of my Z4M Roadster. Thanks again for this post/thread.

Hi guys I'm from M3Post here and read that a z4m battery would work. Strong enough for dd and some weight savings. I had a look on the google docs which is awesome btw. Is this a z4m fit AGM? Battery 9848? Thanks. I'm at a total loss about this battery stuff lol

Here's another one I'm looking at. Anyone know what the differences would be based on specs vs the 9848? Thanks.

The OEM battery in my June 2007 build date Z4 M Coupe is still going strong. I keep it on a Battery Tender when the car will be sitting idle for more than a week. A recent load test shows the battery is in good condition.
