I picked up this (6 tiles) from Kmart (Amazon and others sell them too) for $22.49 to put under the tires in the garage: https://www.amazon.com/ProSource-Puz...70_&dpSrc=srch

Thanks for your advice and I apologize for the semi-thread jack...:/
Anything longer than 3 months and I will add Stabil. I use it in my gas cans as well as they don't always get fully used within 3 months with mowing/snow blowing.

Last night I took the battery out and put it on a maintainer in the house. Once I fix the light in the garage (above the car) I'll put the cover on too.

$48 for six months of 'storage' insurance (if in a secure, heated garage)

I don't mind paying the extra $30 a month to be able to drive it until the weather actually makes me want to store it. I didn't buy it to store it 6 months of the year... 4 is usually hard enough.

temp controlled storage vs cold barn

I live in Missouri and just bought an 06 M Roadster and am considering storing it in my concrete floor barn rather than my temp-controlled garage (DDs are parked there currently).. How important do you consider it to be for the longevity of the car to be in a temp-controlled setting over the winter months assuming i'm following the other great suggestions in the thread for winterization (batt tender, condition leather, over-inflate tires, etc) ?

I would say its not an issue. In fact, I've been doing just that with may car every winter. Although the temperature here rarely gets below -10C (+14F) in my part of Canada.

It seems to me that unlike the Asian and Japanese manufacturers, the Germans really understand how cold winter weather can get, and build their cars to handle it.

Congratulations on the new car by the way!

It might be a little different here in Canada since we've had snow for the last month and insurance for the M-R is about $140 a month in British Columbia - and that is with full RoadStar discounts

After all the comments on storage, I took my roadster out for the last time today, as it goes in storage tomorrow.
Funny how attached to a car you can become. I felt a sadness as I drove it, thinking that I will not feel this good about driving until May
.

I know exactly how you feel, but remember in the spring it will feel like you are getting a whole new car!

Wow, that is expensive! It is 60 degrees and sunny here today. Hopefully no snow for a few more weeks at least. Since mine is listed as a secondary vehicle it is a lot cheaper. Full coverage on my truck, car and motorcycle combined is about $130 here in Iowa One of the benefits of being in a smaller city.

I don't know how you drive it on the roads in the Netherlands! I lived in Den Haag and think my car would have vibrated apart within a few years on most of their roads!

I wasn't familiar with the song, so I plugged it into YouTube. The comments are hilarious on YouTube.

I always go for climate controlled storage for my car. But there are certain things I always follow before I put her away for like 4-6 months. The things I care about are:
The first thing would be choose a safe location. And always choose the one with the best security options, for eg, CCTV cameras, perimeter fence etc.
Next, check the engine oil and mileage limit. If you have reached the mileage limit, then may be you should change it before storing.
Wash and keep you car clean before putting her away.
Evacuate the water from the crevices and add fuel stabilizers also check if the the anti-freezers are topped up.
Inflate the tires before storing and disengaging the parking brakes would be better.
And I take my battery out. And connect it to the maintainer. But there are who don’t like to take their batteries out. It’s according to you, what you are going to do about your’s.
And about covering I use a tight fitting cover.
I hope this helped you make up your mind about what you should do with your Z4M Coupe.
