2007 Z4 Sat Nav Professional

Does anyone have factory sat nav fitted into their Z4?

I was just wondering if it works like the iDrive in other BMW models. I've looked at lots of pictures of Z4 interiors and cannot see any iDrive controller knob.

Is the sat nav professional option only sat nav or do you get other vehicle details screens etc.

Thanks,
Lee

Its not idrive, it's the old standard sat nav system. It can tell you things like outside tempature, milage, average speed, and displays all the information from sat radio, radio, CDs, ipods and controls the in car phone system. Thats it.

And despite its shortcomings, it still is the fastest calculating satnav I have had and never loses your position in cities (unlike the portable ones).

Yes I have the BMW Professional Nav in my Z4-///MC and as 'leeuk10' said it really is lightning fast.

Rock solid performance and well worth the cost. It probably does not have all the new wiz bang features of the current Pioneer AVIC range but compared to them it always works in 100% of situations.

I have never found it hard to use and entering the address details into the Pro Nav is easy after you get used to the system and I have found it a great factory fitted and integrated Nav solution.

I agree, despite its lack of up to date technological gizmos, it really works 100% of the time. It is extremely intuitive to use too.

No you don't.

You have the "High" version (technically its called the MKIV). The "Professional" version is the iDrive system that's in the 2009+ Z4 sDrive model.

"Professional" Nav discs won't work in your car. When ordering Nav updates, you must find the "High" version.

Call it whatever you want but every Z4 e85/e86 made from 2003-2008 uses the same nav system. The MKIV setup was used in the e46, e39 and others, the X3 even used the same display and radio setup as the Z4.

I like it in my car, it's not super fancy, but it still looks nice and gets the job done. Oh and when it doesn't have perfect sat coverage it uses accelerometers and other magic to fill in the blanks guess where the car is.

Bonus tip: The limit function in the 'computer' part lets you set a speed, so that when you go faster then say 70mph, it beeps.
