WTB: SS Race Exhaust

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Like the title says, I'm looking for the SS Race exhaust for a Z4M. I'm trying to spend as little as possible on it, so the x-pipe isn't necessary. The only other exhaust I might consider is Eisenmann race.

Please let me know if you are considering selling yours. I need to cure this desire for more sound

Thanks

Slightly OT, but I'm thinking of selling my SS uncatted section1 (S-pipe) if you're by any chance interested. You may be local to me, so we could possibly work out a nice deal

Thanks for the offer, but I'd rather just leave my cats in to avoid potential rasp, smell, etc.

I saw in your thread that you are trying to get rid of rasp. I think your mufflers are what's causing it...you should sell them to me.

Hahahaha good one!

Naw, the rasp is coming from the headers. I wouldn't suggest ANYONE to put in an unresonated section1 if they've also got aftermarket headers (thereby deleting the primary catalytic converters). However, since you haven't touched your heades yet, I offered my section1 =P

Once I sell my SS uncatted, I'll probably put my OE section1 back in. The smell doesn't bother me, and I don't hafta worry about smog. What bothers me is the rasp from the combination of headers AND unresonated S-pipe.

I've been toying with the idea of doing Euro headers, but I'm just not sure if they will give me much extra sound. What keeps me going back to them is the hp gain. More sound (but not overkill) is really what I'm after though. I'd be more than happy with no hp gain and some SS race mufflers.

On an otherwise stock exhaust setup, I wouldn't think just deleting the secondary cats would make the car much louder, right?

For most people, this is exactly what they want: just a bit more sound.

So I recommend getting just the mufflers. No HP gain really, but sounds great!

Power gains via exhaust go as follows:
1) headers - largest power/torque gain, but with all else equal, will come with a little bit of rasp
2) section2 (x-pipe) - second largest power/torque gain, with slight sound increase
3) section1 (s-pipe) - third largest power/torque gain, with slight sound increase, and A LOT of rasp if you put in unresonated section1 and already have headers
4) mufflers only - least power/torque gain, with major sound difference; changes the car's tone quite a bit, without changing the characteristic of the motor (obviously)

You could do JUST section1 or JUST section2, but they won't be as noticeable as changing JUST mufflers.

Now considering RPi exhausts as well if anyone wants to sell theirs.

Yeah he did. He told me he would need my stock exhaust as part of the deal though. I'd really prefer to keep any stock parts I can.
