Car and Driver-New Z4 gets launch mode

Maybe I'm behind, but did anyone see this. Launch is not all that practical but def. a cool featuure to have. I like the way they simplified launch compared with the m3.

Well, DCT is a copy of Audi's DSG, and DSG had a launch mode everywhere but the US. Nothing new...

Great, more electronic bullcrap to load the car up with. Why don't they just sell you a driver with it too? Sheesh!

With the m3 you first have to put the car into S6 and turn off DSC. Next, hold the stick forward and once you see the checkered flag light in the display, press the accelerator all the way down. It will launch when you release the stick. Drive off rpm can be adjusted about 500 rpm in either direction using the turn signal lever (I have never tried that as I don't really use the launch feature, maybe 3 times total).

You may not like the weight, but it is faster than our Si's and as quick as posted Z4M times. True complaint: way expensive.
