After an extensive 6 month, emotional roller coaster of a search, during which I displayed OCD behavior that my wife didn’t know was in my character, I finally found my 2006 silver grey, black carbon interior, premium package, Z4M coupe. It was located in central British Columbia; a little over 800 km from my home near Edmonton, Alberta and had ~57000 km on it. I picked it up in late March and took the 1600 km route home (the picture is from B.C. Hwy 97C above the Highland Valley Copper mine on my first day of ownership). I'm over 60000 km now and really enjoying driving this car. It's a great contrast from my Civic commuter.
I've been checking out the forum since last summer and have been impressed by the content and the generally positive attitude. I was a little nervous about buying an S54 motored car after reading about vanos and other issues (the motor in my car was replaced at around 43000 km because of sheared vanos bolts) but the information here convinced me that with appropriate care and some preventive maintenance these motors should be pretty reliable. Knowing that this Z4MC only had 15000 km on a new motor helped too. Incidentally, I did join the forum last fall as Z4Chaser but figured that a new name was required when I bought my coupe. |

2007 Z4 3.0i roadster
Howdy, Alpine Weiss Z4 E85 3.0i roadster. Can anyone direct me to the threads concerning d.i.y.'s for front bumper pieces? Weighing if home replacement over non-BMW body shop repair is the right choice.

I have had mine off 3 times for different things.
This is identical to your non M as far as R&R of the front fascia. Be aware you may need to buy the 2 clips that hold the upper wing area of the fascia to the fender as well as some of the clips that wrap around the plastic liner in the wheelwell. Good luck.

Good call.
My MR2 was bleeding coolant and had about a week to live. I looked at a couple of Elises (Elisii?) that didn't impress, then found the ///M roadster and bought it without any research. It had broken camshaft sprocket bolts right off the lot. All worked out well in the end, thanks to the interwebs, and zpost in particular. Let us know what you find and we'll tell you what to look out for.

Black Sapphire Z4 M Coupe
Hi, been a lurker for sometime now, and I just got this:
2007 Black Sapphire Z4 M Coupe 46,xxx miles I got it from Carmax and they gave me a 5 day return policy, no questions asked. I also got their 60month warranty (first time buying a warranty). I have some questions about the car (I did look through the forums) but still not sure. So if I am asking these questions in the wrong place, apologies. 1. When I turn the car at slow speeds, steering wheel all the way, the rear makes a noise. *I heard this could be the LSD and the fluid related to it. 2. The engine makes a sound which I am not sure if normal for the engine, it doesn't do it in neutral. This is my biggest concern, also, my previous car was a e46 330ci and it didn't make this noise (I know different engines). I took it to a BMW mechanic(non-dealer) and he told me the following: Differential Clutch Noisy, slippery clutch (said this was related to slow turning noise) Rear shocks noisy, new tower mounts He plugged in his computer and it said the following: Outside temp sensor 5DF4 Battery voltage too low; open circuit 5E1F Control unit: incorrect vin; calibration required 5E16 message, IKE (610, 613, or 615) oil condition censor, communication Mixture control mixture control 2 He also told me to have the check the VANOS... So, I am happy to finally own something I wanted for a long time. I don't want to return it. Thank you for any responses and I am happy to have joined the rest of you Z4 enthusiasts. |

Hi all!
I got my fourth BMW on June 11th, after wanting one for years. Mine is a 2007 BMW E85 Z4 3.0si with 90,000 miles. 6-speed manual Jet Black Dream Red Leather M Sport Seats M Sport Suspension Aluminum Trim Navigation System HiFi Premium Sound w/DSP Xenon Lights BMW Composite Rim Style 108 M Roadster Steering Wheel installed by previous owner! Dealer installed brand new Nitto tires after I discovered they were going to put on a Chinese brand with non-staggered setup on staggered rims. A big no-no! Top didn't work when they got it on trade, after I test drove it I told them it could cost $15, $150 or $400 to fix the top. Salesman called me the next morning and said the GM decided to fix the top, after hearing my suggestions! The pre-purchase inspection revealed it was in excellent mechanical condition, the few issues were cosmetic. Delivery was complete cluster, but somehow it was working when I picked it up. Been rollin for a month now in Central Florida, after moving here last September. |
