From the flat out motorsports event at Roebling this pasts weekend . Track was pretty slippery this weekend but was a ton of fun chasing this heavily modded GTR . First time I felt slow on the front straight hitting 150mph lol . The Z4M was running strong after my Vanos rebuild. Ran a little to hard as my hood was partially in latched after curbing , thus the black flag pit . Lol

Cool video! Keeping up with a modded GTR is priceless. What's your camera mounting solution?

Thanks! The car is really getting dialed in now and is very reliable on track after the larger oil cooler and radiator I installed. I placed one of the 3M adhesive Go Pro bases on the center console between the roll bars. Its a perfect angle .

Not after running 93 octane with some 100 mixed in . I think the stock tune is no bueno for track use . I've got a dyno appointment next week and will have more info then . Disappointing that I was having limp mode from knock running 93 octane no ethanol , but that was likely the case . After I installed the big ass check valve the limp would happen less often but would usually occur at full throttle and high rpm so it makes sense . After adding the 100 octane I ran a gear down and even rode the limiter in 3rd and 4th gears which has been an automatic limp in the past . Could def tell a significant increase in torque as well .

George, I know you said you wanted to run 91 octane, but I remember telling you to run 100 octane.

It should run cooler, and more torque depending on tune (remember that it was tuned for cooler temperatures). The timing is probably too aggressive that is fixed with the 100 octane.

Well, I am glad that everything is starting to get resolved.

I've always run 93 octane , fortunately we have good gas in SC , can even still get ethanol free . 93 octane on a 91 tune should be more than enough .... . With the 100 I was running 95 ish .

...I was going to say...your hood is making a lot of movement there, lol.

Sick video, love the possibilities of the Z4M.

I have the same mount solution, perfect angle

Keep me/us update if you have any limp mode issue in the future. If the fix is to run 100 octane at the track, I might go vt2-525 instead of selling my ESS kit.

George,

If you need money for testing, WE can send some money. I am sure we all owe you something for all you have done for "track speed super charger mod equipment testing."

I can send good coffee!

Btw. Nice smooth driving.

He's not kidding. It's more like fine wine than coffee. (I need to stop by and pick up a pound or two this week.)

Thanks Sean !
I'm a perfectionist at work ( Cardiac Anesthesiologist ) and with my hobbies . I truly joy getting things optimized and it makes all the failures and frustrations along the way worth it ( check the story on my clutch upgrade failure in the engine forum ) . I'm not definitive on higher octane solving the track limp but the circumstantial evidence is strong ( 2 sessions at 93 octane had limp , 2 with 95 octane had none and were at an even faster pace ) I even had a stretch of 12 straight laps less than a second off my personal best with no limp . Also owning a 700 hp GTR with full suspension on the backside of the track is priceless I'll keep everyone updated on my dyno session next week .
George

what AFRs are you seeing??? ever logged it?

i see max 11.5 at WOT/redline.... wondering if the 525 tune is leaned alittle more to gain more... this latest though george my be right, as sed before ive never experienced this limp, im guessing my cold ass country, decent fuel and richer AFR are keeping me away from this..... looking forward to beating on it again this sumer... i expect it to be rock solid like it always has been.... i dont think it helps these things are developed in cold ass EU...
