I recently put RP in mine and it improved. Hard to say, of course, whether it was the RP itself, or just the fresh fluid

Shifting gears quickly at full throttle is a situation you'll never encounter on the street, at least not if you are driving within the law.

It sounds like you are pushing it to its street car limits but expecting race car capabilities.
You could also have damaged synchros and that is making shifting worse, driving it to it's limits will continue to degrade those synchos. I doubt this is a problem that is going to be solved by trans fluid alone.

I think you might have to slow your shifting down a bit, a very slight pause in neutral before going to the next gear.
You could also go old school and double clutch.
Double clutch a fast upshift? Do u do that daily driving and double clutching your downshifts?

No not these days, I have no problem with the Z4 trans but back in the day when I owned a Morris Minor, if you didn't know how to double clutch you weren't going anywhere in that car.

Thinner fluid is what you want. BMW MTF LT-3 or any ATF.

Another thought I've had is replacing the shift lever with the Z4 2.5L part no. 25117543192. The lever ratio will increase significantly leading to easier shifts but longer throw. An e46 330i uses the same transmission as the Z4 but with a 4.74 shift lever ratio and the shifting is buttery smooth.

The bottom two in this picture show the difference between the 3.0/3.2 lever and the 2.5 for the Z4.

Has this been done before at all by any Z4M owners?

I bought the Garagistic shifter for the same reason but the ratio can be change around until you find what feels the best.
