My brother in law spent a fortune maintaining his. Good luck. Fun to drive for a big car. Good torque in sports mode

Cars are made to be driven. Otherwise why buy it? Keep the maintenance up and have fun with it. Never understood "recreation" vehicles. Is this new daily driver going to put a smile on your face as much as the Z4MR? I doubt it.

I agree fully.

I got myself a VW Golf as a Daily Driver back in FEB ... I drove less and less of the M Coupe since. Drove it more on the track, but didn't do any fun rides in the mountains or weekend escapades.

I have to balance my usage better. I still need a car DD for winter. But in the Spring/Summer/Fall months, I need to use the M Coupe more.

I am at 68000 kms (42250 miles) after 3.5 years of fun

+1. I saw a bill for replacing upper and lower control arms that made me cough.

I wasn't going to say anything... to each their own and all that... but when I first looked at the photo I was curious about the heart decal on your hood. "Care Bears" maybe... I thought... live and let live...

Then I realized it was a reflection in a great wax job.

Congratulations!

I had the same problem, here's my solution.. not as "full pimp" as yours, but it's an uber-clean ZHP, and I love her to death..

80k on my Z4 3.0i, I regret none of it. Still the 7 is very nice for a 4 door ride

Nice ZHP. That was my second choice, but I don't need another coupe, and the sedan is not quite as sexy.

I've DD'd my Z for almost 3 years now. I have no plans of getting rid of it in the short, medium, or long term, so I'd like to ration it a bit. Maintenance will keep it mechanically sound, but it won't bring back red leather seats after 200k miles, etc. That's probably the only downside to these cars, they aren't going to be like e46 325i's where you'll be able to get any part you desire for decades.

The e38 is surprisingly fun to drive. V8 grunt is refreshing / different, and it's certainly nicer to commute in, especially in traffic. Plus, I love the feel of sliding into the Z after a week out of town or similar, and the sound it makes on a cold start after not having run for a few days. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and whatnot. Now I have something to look forward to all week.
My new rule is that the Z stays in the garage unless it's going to be driven with the top down, as it was meant to be.

There is something to be said for the feeling of appreciating one driving experience more because you've driven something else. I traded cars with the GF a couple weekeneds ago (2009 Mazda 3 auto) and man did I appreciate the Z even more when I get her back. By the way - who can make do with only 4 gears these days!? :

Yep, I have 2 Chevy pickups that split time as my DDs. I occasionally drive the MCoupe to work if the weather is good.

Of course, one of the trucks has heads, cam, intake, Whipple SC, meth, etc, etc. It is fun in it's own way. Doesn't handle well but pulls hard in a straight line. The other truck is bone stock and keeps me out of trouble.
