I spoke to RE a few weeks ago and they mentioned you guys as the FCAB project. Needless to say I expressed my absolute interest amd told them I could pull a couple other Z4Ms for the final product.

I replaced my FCABs for now with new OE units that def stabilized the front end wander under heavy braking e.g., the braking zone at the end of the back straight at Road Atlanta. But it is far from solid so an upgrade is warranted.

I am running the RE black RTABs and RSMs and they seem to be working very well.

Any news on when FCABs will be available from RE? I want to do something before spring track events.

The fcab projectis still I'm the works. Ben wants to finish the strut brace first and get the fcab project going again. The strut brace is in the final stages so the fcab project should be going full steam again soon

Excellent. I was thinking about both just the other day at work! Thanks for the update. And yes, if it isn't obvious, I'm interested in both.

Is this still going on or should I just order a new set of OEM FCABs?

Also what do people do for the control arms? Just replace with factory?

I sent an email to TCKline today asking about their FCAB's for the Z4M that are listed on this page: http://www.tcklineracing.com/webdocs...Details421.cfm

I asked if there was a mistake since our FACB's are offset and these appear to be the centered parts.

They were really fast in replying back to me. Here is their reply:

Thanks for inquiring. The Z4M was produced with two different sets of FCAB's depending on the chassis #. If you have offset, then you need offset to replace. The E36 Offset FCAB's that we offer would be a direct fit for your Z4.

They can be found here --> http://www.tcklineracing.com/webdocs...Details386.cfm

Now with all that being said, I now wonder if these offset E36 FCAB inserts can really be used as a replacement. If this were true, then all is good.

Thoughts, comments?

This the first I've heard about different spec depending on chassis.

Same here. That was what confused me...

But I do wonder if those offset inserts will work.

Where our control arms fit into the bushing, is the end of the arm round like the hole in the TCK E36 bushing pictured in the link? Seems like I recall the end of the Z4M control arm being a flattened hexagonal shape...

Yes it is, but I think theTCK has a sleeve that goes over that

....still not convinced that it fits though.

I sent another email asking more questions. One question in particular: Is the offset insert a 66mm insert....

What is really needed is for someone to measure the arm pin diameter and what the offset spacing is. I might be able to stop at the local dealer and talk with the parts manager, hes a friend, and see if they have a control arm in stock so I can measure the arm pin.

I just went back and reread F360's post on the trial fitment of the normal E46M3 FCAB, it's positives and negatives.

If these are 66mm bushings, then that would alleviate the issue with the E46M3 FCABs wheel moving rearward and have the geometry stabilized with out rubbing. You will have to press out the old bushings and press in the new bushing to your OEM mounts.

There are other concerns but the only way to mitigate those is with proper measurements as I stated before or someone just being the test mule.

I just got off the phone with my local dealer parts department. They do not have any of the pieces I need to measure...

They were more than willing to let me take any type of measurements I needed.
