Clutch travel

Hoping for some help or advice with regard to the clutch on the Z4 M Roadster. This is my first BMW and first manual transmission in a few years. It seems like there is a lot of travel or distance from where the pedal is fully depressed to where the clutch engages. I've looked around on the web and see people saying that this is common for BMW clutches. Does the clutch pedal need to be pressed to the floor to disengage the clutch given the amount of travel or is there some point higher where the clutch actually disengages? While driving, is it necessary to press the pedal in fully while shifting gears?

Although the clutch point is pretty far in, you don't need to depress it all the way in to get it to engage. Like any clutch you just need to figure out where the clutch point is and go from there. I'd recommend you just practice at low speeds and rpms to figure out where it engages and go from there. I found that when i first got my M Coupe that I had to put the seat a lot closer to the steering wheel than I was used to so I could get the clutch in. You will eventually get the hang of it, or maybe not. Good luck!
