GB: Official DKF Section 1 Kit

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
DKF Exhaust Section 1 Kit Group Buy:

This GB is a one time Production run by DKF at very special pricing.
Its a one time deal that will not be repeated
.

Group Buy Ends: May 5th, 2013

GB Officially Closed; Thanks Everyone!!

The Basic Idea:
DKF has worked extremely hard to bring us quality exhaust products for our cars.
With this Group buy offering, DKF is making a production run for a Section 1 kit designed to work as an OE replacement.
The kit will mate up to OE headers and all aftermarket headers that maintain OE dimensions.
It will also bolt up to the OE X-pipe flange and any aftermarket X-Pipe with an OE flange.

Some things you should know about the DKF product:
  • This product has been flow modeled specifically for our car and the S54 engine.
The S-pipe is a stepped from 2.25” to 2.50” because of the exhaust valve port size and the timing of the exhaust pulse.
In short, the purpose is to carry the highest velocity possible before the next diameter change.
  • Manufactured with 304 Stainless Steel.
  • Flanges and fittings are internally welded in addition to external weld.
  • The race flange that joins the section 1 'S' to the CAT section is a male/female bayonet type flange that maintains a consistent, smooth flowing pipe diameter.
  • The kit comes complete with EGT bung on the 'S' section and secondary O2 bungs on the CATs
  • The standard finish is polished

The Kit Components:
At this point in time, it is likely that this Group Buy will be a one time thing.
Most certainly at the prices below.

In order to maximize the savings and benefits to us, a standard production run is required.
As such the kit consists of the following:
  • One (1) Flow tuned 'S' pipe section
  • Two (2) CAT sections (300/100 option depending on # signed up)
  • Two (2) race flange clamps
  • Two (2) Resonators, as an added bonus

...see post 3 below for pics

Pricing:

By standardizing on the Kit and after some serious vendor negotiations DKF has found significant savings to pass along to us.
In order maximize the initial cost saving potential; 1300 degree ceramic coating is now offered as a separate option in the pricing below.
The GB pricing is structured in three levels with significant additional savings

Level 1 - (1 - 10) = $1,075 (minimum 10)
Level 2 - (11 - 18) = $975
Level 3 - (19+ ) = $850

Coatings Option: (coatings are by NitroPlate)
-Bright Silver = $300 added to above
-Matte Silver = $350 added to above
-Charcoal Grey = $350 added to above
- Satin Black = $350 added to above
*NEW - just added

Shipping/handling and PayPal fees to be added to above prices for total cost.

Payment and Shipping Info:

Shipping and handling
1. Shipping and Handling anywhere in the Lower 48 $49.00
2. Contact DKF for shipping quotes outside of the USA dkfperformance at gmail dot com

Payment information.
Payments in full to be made at the close of the Group buy and after the official volume numbers have been confirmed.
All payments must be made through Pay Pal. You will be contacted by PM after close of Group buy with the DKF Pay Pal address for your payment.
After payments have been made, the production run volume will be locked in with the supplier.
Therefore there will be a $360 restocking fee for order cancellations.

Production.
Once everyone has paid, production will start of the Section 1 kit.
The expected lead time for production scheduling start is approximately 30 days, manufacturing and shipping 30 days.
DKF will be working hard to minimize the time, and it will help if we get our numbers quickly.

Shipping.
-Each shipment will have a Delivery confirmation number so shipment can be tracked by customer ( no signature required).
-Customer will be E-Mailed an invoice and tracking number to track shipment.

Pay Pal Requirements.
-Customer must have an active and verified Pay Pal account.
-PayPal fees to be added. e.g. to cost for USA address = (total price divided by .971) + ($0.30 transaction fee) ...international locations, other PP fees may apply.
-Pay Pal is the only accepted method of payment.
-DKF wil only ship to address on the Pay Pal account.

!!!!!!
Group Buy Start: April 5th
Group Buy Ends: May 5th, 2013

This post will be the official sign up list.

Please read through the Group Buy information carefully and sign up ONLY if you are committed to buying.

A couple of notes on the GB breakdown in addition to the cost levels in post 1 above;
- Due to the fabricators setup costs and how that impacts our pricing, there is a minimum of 10 kits for each configuration type (300 & 100 cell CATS)

This is one of the main reasons for the poll thread that has been running.
And also why the poll asked for those that are absolute in their choice and also those that can go either way.

If we get numbers similar to the poll, and have 10+ for each, then we are golden.
However if we get something like a 13 / 8 split; we would have to ask if a couple of people would switch to get the 8 group up to 10.

When You Sign up Please Indicate;
1. 300 or 100 cell CATS
2. Definite; or Preferred
...(would consider other)

* You can decide on coating at close of GB when making payment.

To have your name added to the list; just post in this thread with the info ^above.
I will update this post periodically.

(you don't have to copy this list, just make a post with what you want)

Smile DKF section 1 Kit Pics

I will be adding pics of the test fit pieces as soon as the fabricator can get it shipped out to me.
All going well I should have them on Monday April 15th.

In the mean time here are some pics of proto pieces and also the kit that 'avsbmw' has on his car now.

Complete DKF coated section 1 with 300 cell CATs

DKF coated 'S' section showing the step in the pipe.

DKF resonator that can be swapped in for the CAT

DKF uncoated kit showing connection to OE X-Pipe

The racing flange clamp that connects the CAT or resonator to the 'S' section pipes

...and avsbmw's kit on his car

So, in the real world, what will this setup give you? Increase in power?

What does it do to volume? Any rasp/drone increase?

This sounds fantastic, and the prices make me glad I didn't buy a euro cat section. Mark me down as a definite for the 300 cell.

If you were keeping the OE headers (with CATs), then you would use the kit with the supplied resonator.
= increased performance by eliminating 2nd set of CATs restriction with deeper & richer sound.
rasp should not be a problem.

The other benefit is, if you decide at some point to add headers you will be all set to go.
Just swap out the resonators with the CATs that come with the kit.

Great info, hadn't considered this option of not swapping headers immediately. I, too, am glad I didn't go for euro cat option.
