4 Zs at BMS (pics)

Mad Dog (Z3 MC), Erik (Z4 MC), Bob (Z4) and I (Z4 MC) met at BMS for a variety of work last Friday. I had my front ride height lowered and my front tires rebalanced. Erik had some problems fixed that a dealer couldn't and a CDV installed. Mad Dog had his MC inspected and talked over what was needed for tracking it. Bob hung out :thumbup:

Just out of curiosity, why did he have a CDV installed? I have not had mine replaced yet, but was planning on it after hearing all the talk about how much better it was without it or replaced with zechhausen one.(I think I spelled that wrong, but I am sure everyone knows which one I am talking about.)

Just to be clear they did install the modified cdv from zeckhausen.

It's much easier to explain the scientific reason the CDV is better than to explain the way it feels. Mostly I just kinda do it without thinking so explaining a lack of mental process is difficult. For the scientific reasons go to this link to read about it: http://www.zeckhausen.com/CDV.htm Their analogy of a record player slowing the descent of the needle onto the reccord is probably the best analogy I've heard.

Essentially the CDV makes it so no matter how quick you release the clutch it will never engage faster than a certain speed.

Practical scenario: someone skilled in rev matching may get the perfect revs every time and want to dump the clutch right away to hit that rev. With a CDV, there would be a small time delay between when the clutch acctually engages, even though his foot hasn't been on the clutch for half a second. So imagine how difficult it would be for mr rev matcher to match the revs with the clutch engagement/throttle when there's a delay between his foot and the clutch. In his mind, foot not touching the clutch should mean clutch is all the way in, but in reality he's hitting the throttle too early because the clutch hasn't REALLY engaged yet.

Or it could all be a placebo effect.
