How did it break?

and it should be under warranty provided it wasn't your fault it broke,

However the ZHP knob seems to be on everyones favorite list of replacement knobs,

Ive actually just bought one myself and I intend to modify it and make it lighted when it gets here

Yea I saw you bought it on Z4-Forum, you beat me to it by like 10 mins.... haha.

For the OP, the best online source seems to be: mileoneparts.com (tisher BMW) $60 shipped.

They only have the base patterns though, leatherz has a few you can pick from, but they are more expensive. FYI: Does not light up stock.

I looked at a post on M3Forum how a forum member modified a ZHP to light up,

I might try it myself as I actually really like that feature,

You could try a little glue gun action on it if you enjoy pulling on your knob while you're driving.

Just cuz it comes off doesn't mean its broken...just means its loose.

Nope

It used to happen in my old beater (88 320i) and I just learned how to drive it without pulling on the shifter.

You want it still be able to come off, so you can change out the shifter if you want, but you want it stay on otherwise. So a little glue gun action should help tighten it up, but it wouldn't be completely permanent.

That's just my opinion tho.
