I had a shop do my exhaust install and they also had trouble getting them up all the way. In the end it was the RPI guide that helped.

Also, before my exhaust was at the proper height, they also stuck out a bit far.

I don't know how much of this will apply to e89 but you may want to check out this thread, starting on post #2.

I've read that thread before. Definitely helpful. I'll swing by my brother's house and see if we can get the muffler up ourselves. Thanks for bringing it up!

Here's what it looks like now. Doesn't stick out as much but still a tad too low.

I had the back end of the car up on a jack = loosened all the bolts on the exhaust, banged and twisted the brackets on the exhaust hangers to make them a "little shorter", put blocks under the tips and lowered the car a "bit" then tightened everything up . You can loosen all the fastenings holding the rear clip on and move it around a bit as well for in a nd out but my AC SChnitzers ended up pretty good. Its funny that they sound a lot better with the drivers window cracked - I put some sound insulation in the trunk BUT - my wife hates it and being half deaf to ME it sounds great and meaning that she won't drive with me - even better as I can use the go pedal a little more @

Going to finally do this. I've got a three car garage now with the 3rd bay dedicated to my car stuff. Thanks everyone for the advise!
