Stoptech front BBK and Brembo rear conversion BBK

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Hi there. I had big dreams of putting these BBKs on my car this Spring, but business hasn't been doing as well as I had hoped when I put everything together several months back. As well, my Z4M has essentially brand new stock brake components all the way around, so all of this is a frivolous expense that wouldn't be intelligent at this time for me. I don't *need* the money however, so I'm not giving this stuff away. I'll be selling at a loss, but these prices are pretty firm. If they don't sell, I'll keep them locked away in my basement until a day I have a bit more disposable income and can install them without guilt.

Anyway, I had a front Stoptech BBK which is pretty much brand new (please read description carefully) and a rear Brembo conversion for the Z4M. I was planning on painting all four of these calipers a custom color, but I guess that won't happen now or will have to wait. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BELOW CAREFULLY!!!!

- Stoptech front BBK for Z4M, comes with:

- St-40 calipers just painted in GTR orange. These calipers are not new, but were recently rebuilt by p0lar with all new boots and seals. 355mm piston size.
- Brand new Stoptech rotors, never used. 355x32 two piece slotted rotors.
- Brand new 355x32 Stoptech brackets with brand new 8mm shims.
- Brand new Stoptech Street Brake Pads.
- Used Stoptech SS Brake Lines and all fittings/washers.

*PLEASE NOTE ABOUT THIS KIT*

I purchased this kit online, and here is the description from the seller:

"I originally picked up just the calipers and brackets locally. Had them rebuilt completely by Steph (p0lar) with all new seals, etc. He verified the calipers were for a 355mm kit with the 38/42 piston sizes.

Had them painted in a color similar to the Brembo GTR orange, which turned out awesome. Ordered brand new 355x32 2-Piece rotors as well. All hardware is included for assembly.

Go to install and it turns out the first brackets were incorrect, found out they are for an E46 M3 332x32 kit, verified by Stoptech. I ordered new brackets specifically for the 355x32mm kit, so I thought... Part numbers are correct on everything but it still didn't want to mount up. I had Stoptech verify the calipers and they are actually from a 332mm kit, despite the 355mm piston sizes.

So long story short, Stoptech told me that the 332mm caliper is 8mm shallower than the 355mm caliper. I had an 8mm bracket shim made from billet aluminum and everything is perfect now. See picture of how it shims out the bracket. Clearance is perfect everywhere."

I would like $1600 plus shipping for this kit, which is essentially brand new. A new kit from Stoptech will cost much more.

The second kit I have for sale is a really cool Brembo conversion for the rear of the Z4M. These calipers are direct from a 996 Porsche, and work with the stock Z4M rotors. I purchased the calipers from a fellow online, and they are in great shape. The brackets are from p0lar, and I have the correct brake pads so there is NO rust ring. EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR THE CONVERSION IS HERE!!! Please see everything included below:

- 996 Porsche Rear Brembo brake calipers in black, fantastic shape.
- Brand new Zimmerman Competition rear brake rotors
- Brand new Axxis Carbon brake pads, these come from the front of a Porsche Boxster NON-S. NO rust ring on the rotors.
- Brand new brackets from p0lar, these are the good ones! All bolts included as well, brand new.
- Brand new rear brake lines specifically made for the Z4M by Rally Road.
- Brand new brake wear sensor convertor.

I would like $1000 plus shipping for this kit.

So once again:
Stoptech BBK: $1600 plus shipping for all.
Brembo rear BBK conversion: $1000 plus shipping for all.
If you'd like to buy BOTH, I can do $2500 plus shipping for all.
You are responsible for all Paypal fees, I will not accept getting hit for 3%. As stated above, I'm selling at a loss and would rather keep all of this than lose more money. Please PM me with any questions, I greatly appreciate your interest!

I forgot to mention, I also have quite a few high temp vinyl black Stoptech logo stickers. I was planning on just putting Stoptech stickers on the Brembo calipers once painted to make them match with the front. If you purchase either kit and would like some stickers, I can help you there. Thanks.

Hi there, thanks for the interest on these. As of now, everything is still for sale. I've had a couple people want to buy the Brembo kit WITHOUT the rotors, so I would certainly entertain selling everything but the rotors, and then sell the Zimmermann rotors separately. If you're interested in this, please let me know.

The Stoptech kit is still available as well. Get a basically brand new kit for $1k+ off new people.

Wow, I was anticipating seeing this go on your Z4M.

Whoever picks this up. Pls post about the installation and feedback on how the braking feels.

What are the piston sizes used in rear and how did you do your bias calculation?

I think they are 28mm and 30mm in the rear. P0lar on M3forum went to a lot of trouble to find a pad size that maintains the correct brake bias. He uses a 996 front pad (which is included in my kit) in the rear caliper and this gives the brake a bias that is smack in the middle of what the CSL came with and what the bias is with an AP racing BBK.

It took some time to get this rear kit all setup, and it's a great deal for somebody. I don't believe p0lar even makes these brackets for the rear any longer, I believe I bought the last set he had. Thanks.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Who knows, they might wind up on my car yet. I'm in no hurry to sell, but will certainly move them if somebody wants them. Thanks again.

With those piston sizes 38 / 42 front and 28 / 30 rear with 328mm rotors in rear you will be shifting the bias greatly to the front

I bet the rear pad used has got a whole lot more friction than the front in order to offset that bias change.

rears should be 30/34 in case you want to keep pad shape and pad choice versatility

Front bias doesn't bother me much. My car was never intended to be taken to the track nor driven quickly. I really like the look of BBKs (but not so much the price), so this was the best way to get the BBK look for less than the cost of one brand new front only BBK. Front bias will only make the car more manageable to drive regardless, understeer out of commuter traffic isn't really a concern to me.

I don't see much of a difference from people who buy a front only Stoptech BBK and continue to run the stock rear brake setup. You don't hear any complaints from them. P0lar also verified the pistons were the correct size for the St40 355mm kit, I trust him.

I'm not forcing anyone to buy both kits, if somebody wants the front BBK for $1k less than new, they're getting a great deal. If somebody wants the rear Brembo BBK to pair with another Porsche Brembo BBK for the front (which tons of E46 M3 guys do), they're getting a great deal.

Tons of interest in these, but everything is still available as of right now. Thanks.

The rear set up was meant to maintain the stock bias when using both front and rear Porsche calipers...the fronts being st-40's with bigger rotors would shift the bias forward, which is normal for a bbk

OK, quick update. The Brembo kit and everything in the rear has been SOLD!

I'd like to blow out this front kit for somebody. $1500 SHIPPED in the 48 states gets it, you're still responsible for the 3% Paypal if you choose to go that way. This is my absolute lowest price or I'll keep it. This is one helluva deal on a basically new BBK!
