Tires - E85 M

Car is an M Roadster (08). I'm hoping someone can give me a good tire recommendation. The car came with Continental ContiSports. Some people did not like this tire - but I did. I wanted to replace it with the same OE tire - but apparently it's not available in this size any more.

So, I'd like to get either Michelins or Continentals (summer tire). These are my choices:

Continental Exetreme Contact DW

Michelinen Pilot Sport PS2

Michelin Pilot Super Sport

My gut tells me just to go with the Continental Extreme Contact DW. The car is just driven on the street - it's not a race car. People seem to really like the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s though, but looking at Tire Rack I can't see why they would be any better (just costlier) than the Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Anyone know the difference between PS2s and the Pilot Super Sports? Is it just the PS2s are OE - is that why they cost more?

Any feedback on the Continentals?

I am running the Pilot Super Sports with excellent results; low noise, extreme grip, good progressive break-away, decent tread life depending on how much camber you run Okay in rain, but definitely not recommended for ice/snow.

PSS's are the newer version of the PS2's. They're both very good but there's no reason to buy the PS2's. Not sure why they cost more either.

I don't have any experience with the Contis but a lot of people seem to like them. Not quite as good as the Michelins but presumably they're cheaper.

Maybe they're costlier because they're not probably making any more, they're a much older model and if they are making more it's only in small batches. The Super Sports are the spiritual successors of the PS2 anyway. Better performance and harder wearing. Don't see a reason why you'd pick the PS2's over the SS's.

Both are great tyres but BMW don't get things wrong that often, if your not tracking it stick with the continentals if you ever decide to track it get a second set of wheels and run ventus TD

Pilot Super Sports are by far the best road tires for daily street driving if you like a little performance and cornering.
