I like the floor mounts from MS and VAC equally. I went with VAC this time because I prefer the adjustability of their side mounts and took advantage of their package deal for seat mounting hardware. Was able to save a couple hundred dollars overall installing driver and passenger seats.

I haven't run into any fitment issues using the VAC floor mounts withe VAC side mounts. I have the driver seat installed all the way up agains the center console. There is still room to push further toward the console in the mounts.

I did experience what you are talking about when using Recaro side mount with VAC floor mounts. The narrow base of the Recaro mounts combined with the narrow inside VAC floor mount did not allow enough movement toward the center console. MS Mounts are definitely the way to go in this scenario or any other narrow based side mounts like Recaro
Bingo!

I'm using the Recaro side mounts with VAC floor mounts, which you just called out as my issue

Super helpful Chris!

Holy crap, what an awesome update.

This is very cool, can't wait what you come up with next. Love the seat mounts, very easy to work with, i have the same, but listed under a different brand. I gotta say man, very, very nicely done.

Thank you Sir.

Thank you, greatly appreciated!

I saw your Bimmerworld mounts and they look Awesome. I really like the cutouts they implemented for weight savings. And those seats...

Bravo Sir!

Garage List
This is proper madness, looks like you have a dedicated plan the 2nd time around? I'm only in year one of ownership but if I had to do it again I might change up a few things too.

Thinking of address the final drive ratio or front aero? Assuming this is a track weapon

The plan is more focused the second time around for sure. Fewer mistakes and faster installation times. Fewer part changes as well.

With this build I have three objectives:
-Track Worthy
-Touring worthy
-A sort of business card

Part of the front aero plan is complete now and current working on the final under tray/splitter. That said, I am really interested in what inTgr8r is developing. Looks better than anything I have seen for our cars.

Final drive is in the cards, but not in the garage yet

HRE R43 Wheels W/Custom Offsets

I originally had these built for the IB M coupe. After running many different wheels configurations, I bit the bullet and ordered these. I was blown away by the quality and have been an HRE fan since. To achieve matching lug face depth, I ended up buying another set (1 month old from a forum member). His set had shallow front lug depth and deep rear lug depth; Mine had deep front lug depth and shallow rear lug depth. Because I like the exposed stud look, I kept the deep set and sold the shallow set. Wheel specs were exactly the same except for a front offset difference of 2mm. Needless to say, it took some effort to put this set together.

Now building an IR M coupe, I had the opportunity to buy the set back from the member who bought my IB coupe. Love it when thing work out like this

Pros:
  • Light weight and strong
  • Top notch quality and customer service
  • One of my favorite wheel profiles for these cars
  • No spacers needed

Cons:
  • Sizes/Specs require more track oriented alignment, so greater tire wear on the way to the track

This is awesome. I'm looking to add an IR Coupe to my 2 M3's. This car just looks mean, looking forward to seeing HRE's on it.

Chris, while I appreciate the updates and such, id love to see a much more detailed version , esp of some of the more involved installs, like the removal of the bulk head and the install of the seats. By the way mate, that front strut bar, is pretty much by far the nicest/functional one I've seen. Top bloody notch mate.
