Not a bid deal but decided to swap out the shift knob with a Momo Anatomic Short knob. I think it matches the interior (wheel and shift boot quite nicely - stitching and grain). Just a note: I've had a leather Momo Anatomic on my E30, then swapped it to my E90 in 2006 (so a total of somewhere north of 510,000 miles - Momo's last a long time). Anyway here's the one on the Z4...

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I installed the M wheel I got from NickyC this morning and took her for a drive.
I texted the wife to let her know, "It's like my mistress got bigger real boobs. Soft to hold onto and larger". That pretty much sums it up. Steve (And yes, I am dusting the dash right now) |

Purty! Very brave of you to stay with 17's. These days it seems as though everyone wants rubber bands wrapped around humongous rims.

They are the standard stock control arms used on the z4m and zhp 330 e46 bmw.
The ball joints are stiffer and the control arm is stronger, stiffer and thicker than stock. It is an upgrade over stock. Also when you do that might as well get a better FCAB

Wait so it's a stock z4m part. Thought it might be an upgrade.

Not only are they stiffer but they're offset so you get more caster

Yup, stock part for z4m, upgrade for regular z4. I thought I blew a ball joint on passenger side last year but it was a tire issue. When you check realoem.com you can cross reference the part #'s. I even pointed it out to my BMW parts manager who confirmed.

"These control arms came standard on cars with the ZHP Performance package or Motorsport suspension. They have solid metal ball joints and are an excellent heavy duty replacement for stock control arms." - Bav. Auto
"Over the years, the road takes a serious toll on your suspension. Pot holes, speed bumps, and road hazards all contribute to a sloppy, weak suspension. To give a better feel to your driving experience, change components as they wear to improve safety and ride comfort. One item to replace is the control arm. After years of service, the non-serviceable ball joints and other components can begin to wear out causing the steering to not feel as tight, as well as steering wobble and clunking when turning." - ECS Mine doesn't clunk on cornering, but it is very loose and fidgety (120k miles). These will tighten it up more so than standard. |
