headers and mufflers

For those of you that have headers and aftermarket mufflers what are you running and how does it sound. I have had headers for a while but i want to add mufflers now too.

btw, i am thinking between:
RPI
Rogue engineering
Suppersprint
Meisterschaft

The sound and looks are important to me. Super sprints are the least appealing to me imo and meisterschafts are the best imo, followed by rpi the rogue. I don't want the mufflers to sound like a fart can, or be uncomfortable to daily drive. I do like a refined exotic sound, and i also don't mind rasp.
the only videos i have seen with header are supersprint and rogue.

while rpi sounds nice, the more and more i listen to it i think i prefer a more true german sound.. I think im goin to go with the meisterschaft or diablo. Anybody have the maisterschaft? I can't justify the money for eisenmanns

Here's my JVT Ebay (SS knock-off) headers with SuperSprint Race mufflers. Skip to 1:35, 2:55, and 4:56 for the 3 different runs. I chose SS because of how it sounds up high. I wanted as close to the F1 sound as possible with the S54 motor
Down low, the SS setup just does what any other brand of muffler does: drone a bit, and growls. My opinion is that the other brands growl and sound better down low, but none sound as clean as the SS up high. I don't like rasp, and after listening to a lot of YouTube videos, I narrowed my selection down to the SS as the only one that didn't rasp up high. My friend's satisfaction with his E46 M3 was also another factor that came into play when I made my decision.

haha thanks. It currently registers @ 96dB from about 60ft. away @ WOT in 3rd gear on Laguna Seca between turns 5 and 6
That's without touching section 1 nor 2. I'm hoping once I swap out the piping, I'll unlock a decent amount of power. Will probably get SS x-pipe/section 2. Don't want to buy if too expensive though =P

Just drove from SD and arrived in SF today with my SS Stepped v2 headers and my SS Race mufflers. All I can say now is that I'm half deaf. I wish they had a fully resonated section 1 available for this car so it could kill the drone a bit from 1800-2100rpm. My SS x-pipe should arrive within 2 weeks and I really can't wait! The car sounds orgasmic outside, but it sounds very, very loud inside.

haha my car is kinda loud from inside the cabin as well especially within the "drone zone", as I've quite adequately named it lol
But I personally don't mind

BTW, sorry Charles, haven't received any updates about the AA header tune for you from Cal@SonicMS. Were you able to work anything out with JSW?

Everything worked out just fine.... Despite the fact that AA had some trouble sending a non corrupted file... And so I waited for four frigging hours... After a seven hour drive. FML. Afterward I had the pleasure of getting a nice 101N rush hour traffic coming up to SF.

Section 1 and section 2 should unlock a bit more power, but they can't be completely free flowing otherwise the NA motor won't respond well. So most aftermarket applications still use some kinda resonator or bend/twist/crossover to halt a little bit of flow.

LoL that really sucks! That happened to me the first time, but it took one hour at the longest.

you should get +-7 for x-pipe alone, not really a resonator or anything like that, the super spring x-pipe diameter is what slow down the flow a bit but is meant to be used with the SS mufflers as well, I see some problems with running other mufflers like stock with that combination.

Just my own experienced tested $0.02

Yeah I definitely plan on getting SS X-pipe when I do mod my section2. I'll probably get your section1 that you're producing, so that I can put in craploads of cats just to pass CA emissions without any hassles

So you have personal experience running SS X-pipe with stock cans or other aftermarket mufflers?

Because I do, and I can tell you I haven't experienced "problems". In fact it's quite the opposite. No dyno to back me up, but I know what's what and don't let emotions guide what's actually going on. The X-pipe alone has smoothed things out over the rev range, increased the sound a hair, and eliminated the high-rpm 'flat-spot' that was there previous.

As previously stated by Mfanatic... "they can't be completely free flowing otherwise the NA motor won't respond well. So most aftermarket applications still use some kinda resonator or bend/twist/crossover to halt a little bit of flow."

I've heard you say the same thing in 3 different threads, and everyone knows you have a full exhaust system coming to market. However, I'm clearing the air from personal experience.

And OP... No luck necessary. There's an absolute TON of exhaust info throughout Zpost, complete with clips, reviews, install tips etc.

Sorry I don't think I was clear: I mean that you should gain at least 7hp more or less. I don't like it paired with the oem cans, but with the SS cans they are really incredible, honestly they sound really amazing on a setup with SS x-pipe and SS mufflers

The only thing in my own opinion that super sprint really lack of is good welders

Never noticed their welds. Something to pay attention to. G/L w/your build btw. Corsa cans ftw!
