Thanks for taking the time to do this. It looks like the last dynamometer was harder on you, because the headers have proven 20 hp gains. One suggestion: add in the Volks. They can make a difference on the dyno.

You're welcome!
The seemingly disappointing results are due to the fact that they were run on a DynoJet instead of a DynaPack. Wheels/tires do make a difference, so I will add that into the description.

Since I made 295rwhp and 243rwtq on a DynoJet, I should be at my expected 320rwhp and 260rwtq on a DynaPack

DynaPacks run directly off of the wheel hub, so the readings tend to be higher theoretically.

Vid of this morning's dyno session is being hosted right now. Will upload soon.

edit: Vids are uploaded/linked. Hope you guys/gals enjoy!

lol I requested for a fan to be put in front of my car for the DynoJet session, but he misunderstood me (as you can see in the vid)
They also did all the runs this morning in 4th gear I believe, for the DynoJet session.

I believe that if I had a fan or two in front of the car, feeding air into the engine bay; and if they did the runs in 3rd gear, I would've broken 300rwhp easily even on the DynoJet.

Because when I did my DynaPack runs, I used one or two fans everytime, as well as best pulls in 3rd gear.

^ Just some food for thought

I am convinced now.
Even though I have the 3.0si I will get SS mufflers and Y-pipe (and cats WHEN they finish developing them) and AA's ECU flash.

lol I'm really confused by this video...

I was going to just write off DynaPack as reading higher than DynoJets, but the video proves this to be false

I should've told the operator today to do 3rd gear runs only, and insist on fan(s). Didn't think it would cause such odd results

BTW, I can't go back to the DynaPack where I've been doing all my previous dynoes because some 800+whp car broke it lolll..and it's going to cost over $8k to repair that dyno, so I doubt it'll get fixed any time soon

The dynojet will take into account your forged wheels. I'm by no means a dyno expert, but I believe they try and choose a gear that gives close to a 1:1 ratio. In a stock car it happens to be 3rd gear; in a car with lower gearing, it can be 4th.

I think your biggest culprit might be the fan. Maybe I can make a drive out that way one weekend to get my car dynoed. According to mapquest I'm about 2 hrs 45 min away. My only performance mods are the aFe and AA tune.

Actually, for our stock gearing, 5th gear should be the closest to 1:1. I remember it was exactly 1.00 : 1

In any case, when I ran my previous DynaPacks, I found 3rd gear to be the most reasonable #'s. 4th gear didn't put down very high #'s, and 5th gear was even worse.

I'm going to hafta blame the no-fan + no-3rd gear during the runs =P

I don't think it's worth your time to come all the way here just for a dyno lol. Plus, there currently aren't any hook-ups that I know of. Which makes dynoes too expensive overall and not worthwhile.

Do it!
I'm waiting for a chance for a DynaPack 4000.

Alekshop does dyno days every now and then. Alekshop is a vendor (run by, you guessed it, a guy named Aleks) is over on M3post, but pretty much any car is welcome, they even dyno'd a member's Prius for grins once. Aleks is a great guy too, and I'm sure these things end up being fun too.

It might be worth a look every now and then to see if another one is coming up. Aleks usually hooks things up for a good price.

Here's a link to their last dyno day. It was a Dynopack vs. Dynojet test. I was going to go, but work got in the way....

Oh yeah last time when I went to get my DynaPack done, Su @ AGP was holding a bimmer dyno day for Aleks and friends from M3post. I met some of the guys there =P
A lot of them had SMG's which posed some problems on the dyno, because it would refuse to upshift sometimes lol
I would love to join in on more cheap dyno days. Please keep me posted if there are any!

edit: I still don't have any closure on whether or not DynaPack reads higher than DynoJet...so far real-world experience tells me the aforementioned is true. However, that video I recently posted defies that assumption.

Every car we have seen with our products "software / superchargers" dyno tested on a DynaPack always makes more power then when tested on a dynojet.

Here is an example of a NA tuned E9X M3 with the same mods and same fuel tested on a dynojet and a Dynapack. This is the same car used in both dyno tests.

Dynojet 366 whp

Dynapack 389 whp

As far as your dyno charts you seem to have some odd dips in your power above 6k RPM. These might be caused by the lack of air but your ambient temp during testing was 59 deg which should be plenty cool enough for the ECU to run proper timing. To be sure you might want to have them test again with proper fans.

This is how a typical curve should look on a stock and tuned S54 motor. This is a bone stock car before and after our software on 91 octane SAE corrected.

What gear do you guys usually do your runs? I used 3rd gear for DynaPack runs, along with at least one fan. However, for the DynoJet session, they used 4th gear, and no fan. So I'm blaming the low results on that
