Magnaflow cans installed!(sound clip added)

I couldnt justify spending over a grand on rear cans, so what I did was, I went to a local mufflershop and got them to install magnaflow cans along with dual tips!

It turned out a way better then I've imagined. not much drone and nice throaty sound! and it looks perfect!

I like how low profile they are. Whats the part# of those? Please check back in a month, and let us know if the drone went away

Looks great. I remember seeing someone else do this. I think they said it ran around $400-$500. I've yet to be able to justify dropping the cash on a brand new set of cans and I've not had much luck finding a used pair. Let us know how it sounds after a thousand miles or so.

I ended up paying 725 CDN all together with tax.

The parts were only about $340 CDN($100 per can and $70 per tip), rest were labor.

The shop did a very good welding job.

The drone is present around 1900 to 2000 rpm, anything below or above, it is actually very quite in crusing and becomes very throaty but with no drone when on the gas.

I'll try to record some clip/

also as for the part number, i will try to get it when i get a chance to lift up my car.
But it is one of the universal can with no tips that has offset inlet and center outlet.

clean & quality, i've always liked mangaflow products. too bad they don't offer high flow secondary cats for our car... i know the e39 guys have had some success.

Aren't their cats universal? you could probably fit them in if the dimensions are right

So I got a wild hair earlier and hit up 3 reputable muffler shops here in town only to find they would have to order the tips. Only problem is I'm not sure which ones to order. mpower, can you provide any details as to what the part numbers are on the mufflers and tips? It would be greatly appreciated!

Good idea. Looks great. I was thinking about checking this out myself as I've heard other car guys liking their choice with Magnaflow.

I just checked, it is either this one

or

I got the regular non polished stainless steel one. Why? because it was cheaper! and it tucks away nice so it wont be visible anyway.

As for the tip, it was not magnaflow tip, but each tip is about 3inch in length so 3inch x2 and little gap between 3 inch, so i guess overall would be either 6 inch or 6.25 on each side.

Magnaflow does have nice dual tips but they sell for outrageous amount(over 300 dollar)

above link by tekmoe should be exactly same size as mine.

Since the OEM is a true dual outlet hi-flow exhaust, and you replaced it with the single outlet Magnaflow, wouldn't the Magnaflow be more restrictive than OEM?

I love these Remus tips on my X5...Just wished someone made something similar for the MC
