If its just a vacuum hose then there shouldnt be any problem just plugging it up and leaving it.

If you haven't done so I recommend doing the BMC air filter and charcoal filter delete at the same time as the elbow. They are definitely worth it and if you have the funds add the RPI scoop for some highway speed boost. These are all dyno proven mods as there doesn't seem to be many for us.

Thanks for the review. Was thinking about these mods, I know various dynos have shown some decent high-end gains. I'd love for that S2K like 7-8k feel. I love this car, but I do still miss the way the motor in the S felt WAY up top, a bit more race car.

Let's see some pics.

I would like to see what was done about the air shut off vacuum line too.
I did this mod useing the e46M vacuum line that conects to the plenum instead of the elbow, but this was not a 100% fix. The car ran well but still gave a code.

Extreme bump. Curious about what the story is with this vaccum line. It sounds like the op just left it detached and stuck a filter on it.

Is this still working OP?

This is a cheap mod that seems to buy the E46 M3 guys some real power up top, so I'm curious to know more.

I'm really not convinced on any sort of "intake" not losing me HP, and if this makes a few and improves how the car feels it's a plus.

I bought this part and returned it because of the issue with the vacuum line.

So sticking a breather on it like the OP did caused problems for you?

Connecting this to the manifold will not cause a problem. You could buy the M3 line (expensive as its an entire assembly) or do what i did and just get a long piece of nylon tube like the origional.

I did this mod a month ago (put the cap on elbow) to test to see if i would have any issues with a total intake mod that i have inworks.

Ill try an get some photos up for you tomorrow.

I did not even try as i wanted to keep it as stock looking as possible. My local BMW dealerships are not mod friendly at all!
