Z4 Trailer Transport/Tiedown Questions
For those of you that trailer your Z to the track, how do you secure the vehicle to the trailer? What tie-down points do you use (or do you just go through the wheels?)?
My Z4c is lowered so not a lot of clearance to get under the car. |

I can't say that this is the best method, but I have been using straps through all wheels. It's said that this could pull the car out of alignment, but I can't imagine this is putting any more stress on the wheels than hard cornering on the track. The only issue is though that if coming in from the track you have to let the wheels cool down a bit before threading the straps through or you may melt the nylon (or whatever synthetic fabric they use)

If you pop out those square pucks where the lift points are, there are horizontal slots cut for you to loop a tie-hook to.

Probably not "factory approved" but I've been using the standard tow hooks with a tie down to each side in my closed trailer for quite some time with no ill effects.

Ian, where does the tie down hook connect to the car at? I'm trying to figure out the best way to strap the back of the car down. I've thought about tire straps but wondering what others do when they haul their cars.

The other thing I've seen guys use are over the tire web/slings. They seem to like them a lot. Easy to place on top of the tires and eliminates rubbing from looping through the wheel.
