Z4 M - Should I buy one?
I am in the market for a new car and have been looking around.
I have always liked the Z4 M's but they have always been out of my price range (expensive in Aust.). These have really fallen out of favor in the local market so there are some good bargains to pick up. Therefore I have an opportunity to pick up a new / used (200km) Z4 M coupe at a considerable saving off list price, so it is super attractive. So for those who have one, feel free to provide some insight into your experiences good and bad???? Pro's Con's Thanks PS: Present drive 130 5 door and very happy |

It is the last M in the Z series for a long time I guess, so worth getting hold off. Over here (UK), the values have shot up over the last 6 months (by about 20% more then late last year).

Probably the last purist M as well. Not a lot of electronics (compared to the current M3) and with the NA inline 6. I think BMW will most likely be going the turbo route for future M cars so NA motors, especially the inline 6 will be a thing of the past.
The Z4MC was a bargain to me for the performance you get, even more so now on the pre-owned market. After seeing the new Z4 I am even happier to have mine and may even pick up a Z4MR for my wife to drive in few years.

traded my 2006 997 for this....nuff said There is nothing out there that gets this performance for this price and to have the chance to do it all over again there is nothing I would change except bargain a little more

This is my Fourth M(Z3MR w/S54, E46 M3 vert, Z4MR, Z4MC), and is my favorite hands down. Fun in the twistys, and not to bad for speed. Very balanced.
The one complaint I get from passengers is that it is dificult to get in and out of. I say who cares. Once your in, the seat hug you just right. Do it! you will not be disapointed

Well it's hell of a car. You won't get anything like that from BMW for (I think) at least 5 years. But you should test drive it. It has quiet stiff ride etc, which some people don't like.
In this month's Roundel magazine, in the news sections, I read that 5th gen M3 will have a 6 cylinder turbo engine. Worst part is (which I don't (want to) believe) it may be a V6 |
