Stubby Update

Like many on this site, I ordered a Mangowalk Stubby when I first got my Lucy. It always bothered me that it was slightly crooked. So I purchased a BMW Short Rod Antenna 105mm Part Number: 65202179726. It looks awesome and as a benefit that I had not heard from anyone, the FM reception is improved over the Mangowalk. So if you have a stubby and actually listen to FM, (me not so much) you have a better option, looks better also!

I checked that BMW PN and it also lists an 83mm version, any reason why you went with the longer bit? Also pictures appreciated

That's easy - now he can say that he has a bigger stubby than the rest of us.

Not to harsh your buzz, but isn't the FM antenna behind the rear bumper cover?

Yes, I think the FM uses a dual diversity antenna system....... the stubby and the bumper antenna.

I'll buy that, especially coming from somebody named antennahead.

I need to go for Diversity Training.

Thanks for the part number. I too, had recently replaced the weathered out Mangowalk stubby with the BMW and likes the BMW one much better.

I didn't know BMW offered one! Thanks for that.

I did a bit of research. Possibly the reason you thought you had bought a 105mm antenna is that the part number is for a 105mm antenna -- that is no longer available, and has been replaced by an 83mm one.

That might be good news. I had the 105 mm version, and it's plastic/rubber cover very quickly cracked at the base, after minimal use and exposure. I was disappointed with the quality of it; hopefully this one is better.

So typical. You thought it was longer than it really was.
