Hifi or Top Hifi?

I have read all the differences, but I am still not sure how to know which one I have. I have the 10 speakers and it seem the differences I see is a different amp and the rear woofers are carver woofers - but how do you tell which system you have?

I had the same question.
I took my vin to local dealer and they confirmed what was factory installed

I think the "top" is the only one with DSP.
Should be a DSP selection in one of the menus, possibly the main menu.
I can't remember exactly. I have CRS.

I know this is an old thread but...do all the 10 speaker E85's have an amp? or do just the Carver/Top HiFi have an amp? Thanks!

All E85's have an amp. There are 3 different levels of sound systems and each has a different amp.

If you have 6-speaker system, then you won't have an amp.
If you have 10-speaker, then you will have an amplifier.
When you look at the amplifier and see DSP/Carver on the label, then you have top hifi system.
If you see Redstar-DSP then you have hifi system.

Also, if you look at the little hole near the label and see a connection there, you have top-hifi. If you don't then you have hifi.

If you use the vin decoder you can see all the options the car had factory fitted....

Interesting. Decoded my VIN and for the stereo the entry is "HIFI SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL". Meanwhile all other information points towards it having a Top Hifi System (Navigation, DSP, 10Ohm subs with part number to a Top Hifi system).

Also found out my roadie has a rain sensor. Anyone know where that is located?

In the pod behind the rear-view mirror.
I imagine it has an infrared LED and sensor.
With no rain, infrared shines out the windshield into space.
Rain drops reflect/refract it back at the sensor.

Monday's suck sometimes. Wasn't thinking straight, by rain sensor I thought a rain sensor....for the interior that would raise the roof if it sensed moisture.

Thats because hifi system professional is the name BMW AG named it...
The code and the name behind it is the official name of the packeage.

Top Hifi is how it is named in the ETK somehow. But it is the same.
