New to these codes? SIB what is it?

I read somewhere about these service codes? internal memos? service bulletin? start with the letters SIB followed with numbers? Now, is this a secret code, for service/sales eyes only????
What benefit is it to a gal? How do I use it if I have a problem with my car? complain!!! and state SIB ####? and what does SIB stand for????

SIB = Service Information Bulletin. Not generally available to the public. Folks on forums like this and Bimmerfest keep track of SIB publications and post info regarding coverage.
