Also for those who still use the aux port, the 12" audio cable is perfect for this mount and the iPhone 5 (audio jack same side as charger). There's no unnecessary slack from phone to port, and the right angle head makes it even better.

For what it is worth, I have had my ipod nano stuck on my dash using a rare earth magent (tiny size) for 6+ months now and no issues)

I would be concerned with that size magnet and GPS/Cellular antennas interference with the new version

yikes, i didn't realize my picture was so big (posted from my iphone).
Sign me up for the magnet mountek! I get a new phone every 2 yrs (or less) anyway so I'm not too concerned with long term damage from magnets. (Actually I've only had my iphone5 since last fall and I already want the new galaxy s4...)
The one thing I don't like about the current Mountek is the limited swivel. All it can really do is spin the phone to be horizontal or vertical. It doesn't angle the phone up or down (correct me if i'm wrong), so it makes it not as useful in a car like the 530 where the CD player is much lower than eye level. Not that you should be glancing down at your phone while driving, of course.

Just got the new version, the ngroove snap. It works best if you mount it upside down so the screw is not blocking the radio. Since it is a balljoint mount, it can be mounted either way. I have an iPhone with a cheap slim case on it and slipped the magnet between the case and phone without removing the adhesive. It's working perfectly. The only thing I don't like is you cannot remove the yellow Hands Free label as it is not a sticker, it is embossed into the rubber mount.

I wonder if some Goof-Off (or Goo-Gone) would remove the "embossing." If it's anything like the airbag stickers on our sun visors, it should come off with that stuff.

Just ordered one, I'll give that a try when it arrives.

embossing was the wrong word, you'll see it cannot be removed unless you were to tear off the rubber completely. i'm thinking about gluing a thin layer of material on top, maybe felt?

I took a hard look at mine. Tearing the rubber off completely is definitely the best bet. I thought about putting some felt on top or maybe some velcro (soft side obviously) I had left over. My worry was that piling stuff on top of the rubber as well as putting the other magnet inside my phone case, would start to weaken the pull of the magnets.

In the end, I decided to replace the whole thing and went with some left over shelf/drawer liner I had. Has a soft rubbery texture which I think would keep my phone in place better than felt would and looks decent in the car. I used spray adhesive to bind it to the mount.

I also have this mount but don't like how it blocks the radio screen and buttons. Has anyone tried to Kenu Airframe? http://www.amazon.com/AIRFRAME-Porta...=kenu+airframe

On sale for $16.99 if you use code MLCJ26TN

I've been using these clever and cool looking ball and Neodynium magnet holders both at my desk and car. My girls car has them too for convenience . I haven't found anything about them I don't like in real world use yet after several months use.
You can literally place your phone in any configuration without any knobs, screws or bending to adjust. Just a quick 'snap' as it magnetically attaches or a quick snatch to remove.

Billet, C-n-c's aluminum anodized base with chrome dome and a small low profile magnet (also aluminum with a silicone pad to make quiet when attaching).
