El Diablo installed on my ///M today.
Yada yada, you guys know all about it already so I won't bore you. Paid $1200 plus shipping for it, and honestly, I'm pretty underwhelmed by it. I don't think it looks particularly nice, and it's ridiculously loud honestly. The drone from 1800-2200 RPMs is giving me a damned headache. I guess the sound is decent after that, but let's face it, no BMW inline six sounds good. About the only pros I can think of are that there is still no rasp just like the stock exhaust, and that it fit perfectly with no rattles or anything heard in the cabin (not that you could really hear anything else anyway).
I don't know if I'm going to keep it honestly, hopefully it will break in and get quieter or something. I just thought it would look, I dunno, better? I almost sanded it down and painted it a dark matte grey before the install, and I really wish I had done that as that would match the attitude of my car I think. I have an AC Schnitzer carbon fiber rear diffusor coming in the next couple weeks, so maybe I'll paint them then. Also, do you guys think the pipes are crooked? They look all messed up to me in these photos. I guess I'll have that worked on as well when the diffusor shows up. Honestly, just a big fat meh really. |

Come on you should have done more research, almost everyone says they're loud and they drone. The sound SHOULD improve with time though. I think they look straight, but I would raise them by about 1" to fill the gap in

the right side tips appear to sit a fair bit lower and canted to the left - adjust the flanges together with the circular ring by positioning the two securing bolts in a vertical (1 directly above the other) and tightening the top bolt more than the bottom one. u can adjust the side-to-side positioning as well by adjusting the left-to-right positioning of the circular ring in between the flanges.
can identify with ur initial impressions of ur exhaust, albeit in my case i was overwhelmed rather than underwhelmed. put on a fair bit of miles at fully warmed-up temps, and the carbon deposit buildup will hopefully 'refine' the tone a bit and reduce the drone. u can also add some simple dynamat or equivalent to dampen the frequencies tt cause drone, although in the roadsters i understand the phenomena is far less pronounced than in the coupes. |

I LOVE my RE Diablos....it takes our car from sounding like a semi-sports car to a true sports car....
My 07 Z4M roadster is SO much richer because of RE Dibalos....yes - they do tone down a bit - I agree - quite low RPMs create a drone that last only moments....until you are above 2000 RPMs and then it's just freakin'....RICH It save significant weight, looks awesome, and sounds RICH!!!!

I had a chance to compare the Diablos with RPIs on a Z drive a couple weekends ago. I had heard the RPIs before and thought they were ricey, but the car I heard must have had other exhaust modifications done (I just noticed the tips as he was buzzing away). The cars I heard over the weekend sounded pretty good, and there was an exotic element to it. They sounded about as exotic as a 6 cylinder can sound, maybe halfway between a Honda and Ferrari.
The Diablos are about 75% of the RPI. They are definitely in the same category of loud, and target the same type of customer. Where the RPI may be just over the edge in terms of noise, the Diablos might make the cut.

Hehe did you expect an exhaust called "devil" to be civilized?
Looks alright to me on the car though, apart from some minor offset as mentioned above. Not so sure about that diffuser you've ordered though... |

Got to drive the car yesterday afternoon with the top down because its in the low 60s, and it's mega loud with no roof. I have got to be officially old at this point, I was wincing everytime it droned. People always stared at my car before, but now they're *really* looking at me and I must admit I don't like it. I have the feeling the exhaust has pushed me over the top into attention whore status.
This thing better get real quiet real quick or it's gone. I'm not sure what impact this is going to have on my AC Schnitzer CF diffuser order as well. Both parts were supposed to go kind of hand in hand, and if I take the exahust off I dunno about keeping the diffuser. Joy. |

Yeah, me neither. I have no idea what to expect when it shows up. I spent a jackton of money on the thing, just going by what few pictures I've seen of it on the internet. There's basically no information about it at all anywhere. Oh well, I'll know soon.

bunch of vultures. Nicky just wait it out for a week as I said in a different thread. Give it a week of hard driving for the carbon build ups to cover all the cracks and holes and it should go down to a good level. Good luck!

Thanks Shakib, I'll definitely give it some time. Nobody is being a vulture however, I offered to sell those parts if I don't like 'em. I don't blame the good people of these forums!!

LOL I guess my humor didn't make it through. I will be on the list of dibs for the ACS diffuser at 80% off.

exhaust fitment is way off imo, they really make your gorgeous car look wak with those poorly aligned tips..... i used a proper gap measurer to get the alignment perfect, this is essential to a good looking system, btw i LOVE my rpi's, its one of my fave mods.
