E89 IS - Ordered

Judging from some of the recent threads, it must be car buying season!

After much soul searching (and many discussions, and 1 M School, and a bunch of test drives) I've decided to trade up to an E89 IS. Placed the order today, now I get to wait 8 weeks. First time in my life I'm ordering a car to my exact specs, pretty stoked about that.

I'll miss my E85, but we never really 'own' these things, just take care of them as best we can for the next person. This will be my third Z4, two E85s and now an E89 - going on 8 years with these cars! I must like them or something .

Cool! What specs did you go with? Colors and whatnot?

I will definitely put pics and a review up when I take delivery. I have some early impressions, but best to wait until I get some decent seat time before reviewing.

Thanks! It's going to be mineral gray metallic over extended coral red leather, cold & technology packages, 19" double spoke wheels. Haven't decided if it's a boy or a girl yet, never know these things until you get to know the car .

That's gonna suck. My waiting period spanned Oct & Nov, which had "some" decent top down days, but this is prime season

The IS is a blast though, just took it out on some country roads today. Sport+ and throw in it manual...

Agreed. Luckily I'll have my E85 until I pick the E89 up, so the nice days won't be a loss. That's if we ever GET a nice day in Chicago. April 13th, and it was 38 and snowing/hailing this AM. WTF.

That's what I did also, and it certainly helped. For a while, I'd have the new one (yellow) and the old one (red) out front, and every time I would see them, it made me want hotdogs...

Holy crap did that make me laugh out loud. I even shared that one with my wife!

Loved it.
