Stumbled across this:

http://www.dpclights.com/product-p/c...mw-z4-rms-.htm

I don't know anything about the company, but it looks to be a cheap alternative to the Supersprint twin tip muffler (~$1400 new). It requires the Supersprint Y-pipe. I don't think the M54 and N52 have identical muffler fitments, however.

I'm purchasing a Supersprint race muffler with the single tip from another forum member. If the combination of headers and race muffler proves too loud, I may be interested in this setup as an alternative. Anyone want to chime in?

I'm pretty sure that's a Stebro muffler, loud as heck (drone) in all the wrong rpm (2750) and über quiet above 4000.

The Stebro requires the Supersprint Section 2?

Yes, or something similar. I was the one who pointed out to them a few years back that their muffler didn't fit because they only have a single pipe coming in whereas at least on my 06-08 n52, it has 2 inlet pipes. The SS midpipe converts 2 into 1...

I'll have to attach my Iphone on my rear bumper and make a sound clip of my Stebro under acceleration. Because I certainly don't feel what your saying.

I know that Stebro went through a variation in boxes, tips etc. at one point....so maybe their are a few out there that give the wrong sample .

Or , it may just be perspective/perception and be subjective.

Maybe it went through revision. For mine, when you were coasting around tone, tons of interior drone. When you got on the gas and the revs would climb, quiet as a kitten. Not to mention the fitment for the post-facelift was totally off and I had to have custom hangers welded. It was a total cr@p experience back then.

I put the stebro on my car last year and the fit was spot on and I don't find a tone of drone either. So they must have revised them a bit.

The fitment issue was for 06-08 models, I think it was always fine for pre-facelift.
