M Steering Wheel Best Price?
Is the $575 price on getBMWparts the best place to get the z4 M steering wheel? I love thick wheels and this one looks great (rather have black stitching, but no big deal) and this is the cheapest place I have found it unless I am missing something?
I slowly modded my 300 and always kicked myself for not doing it faster. You know what you like and know you are going to do it, why wait and get less time with your mod? =)

Hi,
Sounds like a good price to me. I got one for my 3.0si from ECS but it was more expensive. ECS lists one with black stitching ES52765 in addition to the multicolor stitching. Expensive option but well worth it - much thicker - and better leather than stock Z4 steering wheel. |

I've never seen it that cheap anywhere, and Tischer (getBMWparts) is well known for being pretty much the best OEM pricing out there.. go for it. Be aware that the black tabs are probably not included at that price, and the airbag most definitely is not.

That looks like a pretty darn good price. I've seen used ones go for almost that much.
Is it difficult to swap out the steering wheel? If I can't find a place to wrap my steering wheel, that looks like a pretty darn good price. I'll have to consider that mod for next year. Here's a sample steering wheel I've seen on another forum wrapped.

Think I will go for it.

The company in England is Royal Steering Wheels.
From all reports the rewrap with perforated leather, thickening and coloured stitch is 120 pounds approx $205, even if shipping is I dunno 100 bucks still a bargain.

And of course it will arrive on a Monday instead of a Friday - classic. I think UPS purposely delivers all car and gun parts on Monday just to torture guys like me.

Anyone want to trade a brand new no color stitching M steering wheel for a brand new color stitching steering wheel?

Use this link for install. I love my new wheel..
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthre...steering+wheel My Z4 roadster has every available option that was offered in 2005, but it's not an ///M. I'd been eyeing the ///M steering wheel for YEARS because I loved the wheel's thickness and the tri-color stitching, but I just couldn't justify paying about $1,000 for something that I really didn't need. Disclaimer: I'm gonna try to justify why I pulled the trigger now, but this is really intended to make me feel better. This is my summer vehicle and I have about 60,000 miles. I own the car free and clear and in my mind there's nothing that I could replace this car with since the value is likely under $20k at this point. With that being said... The silver trim pieces were nicked up pretty good by the previous owner when I bought the vehicle from him in '07 and there was even slight wear on the wheel at the 10 o'clock position (that probably could've been cleaned at the time - but I didn't). Now, fast forward 7 years later and add up all the lotion, sunscreen and hair gel that was rubbed into the wheel. The 10 o'clock and 5 o'clock positions of the wheel are 100% smooth and shiny and you can no longer see the pores in the leather like the rest of the wheel. I tried using Lexol on these areas and it did seemingly nothing. The next day I used Goo-Gone on these spots and it did next to nothing as well. Then I had the worst idea ever and decided to use Goof-Off. I should've known from previous experiences that Goof Off is a VERY harsh compound, but I thought it was my last resort. After using Goof-Off, i now have odd dry looking areas on the wheel and while it would easily pass the eyes of the average driver, I'm willing to bet that not too many ZPOST members would be happy with the look and still somewhat sticky feel (from the gel when I wipe the sweat on my head) that's on the wheel. In addition, over the past 6 years my wedding ring has really done a number on the trim surrounding the volume control, so at minimum I'd need to replace that as well (about $200). Now I make an effort to make sure to protect my new ///M wheel. Absolutely love it so far.

My ///M wheel wasn't taken care of by the previous owner, well the entire trim indoor and outdoor actually that could be burnt and cracked, it's burnt and cracked. My steering wheel now has a total of 3 holes, around 12 and 1 o'clock. All wheel areas are cracked all the way around. My tabs are yellow and not black!
Several options that we have: 1) Bimmian.com is, in my opinion, the best option by far! They wrap our wheels and also have larger diameter compared to OEM ///M wheel. Carbon fiber can be added, alcantara, ///M colored stitching, they even shave the bottom part for a flat surface like the Audi wheel, but it all costs about a leg and both nuts.... Oh yea and $1,000-$1,609! http://www.bimmian.com/AutoCarbon-Ca...for-BMW-E85-Z4 2) ECSTuning has the wheel (without the airbag) for $625 plus shipping. http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-Z4-M_Ro...Wheel/ES52746/ The tabs can also be bought at ECS for $169 plus shipping. http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-Z4-M_Ro...Wheel/ES54172/ 3) eBay has the tabs only. Real carbon fiber though, which is why it's priced at $600 plus $50 shipping. Approximate ETA once it's shipped is sometime in November! m.ebay.com/itm/141098846928 4) getbmwparts.com has the wheel for $575. http://www.getbmwparts.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462 Take your pick! |
