Thoughts on Tekarbon Angel Eyes

Just wanting to hear from those that did the Tekarbon Angel Eye conversion. Are you happy with the difference? Looks? Quality?

Did you do the matte black or coloured housing?

Did you do the signal strips?

Was really hoping to see some pics if you have any available. I did check out their gallery.

Next time I go home and see my car I'm going to try to get these done. Everything I have seen everyone loves them and gets good feedback from people that see them.

That's the short of it, they look awesome.

Learn from this guy and don't do the LED strips.

Quick search of the forum has lots of pictures:

Post up your angel eyes

Custom tekarbon angel eyes: demon eyes

You've seen them in person Mike

It's really difficult to get a good pic with them on.
The camera seems to exaggerate light flare.
IRL the light is tight & crisp

That was my concern as well.
I eventually sucked it up & sent them.
I took extreme care to protect the tabs in rigid foam.
Tekarbon sent them back the same way.

I didn't recall that Ian. I was a total rookie then and had no idea what I was looking at really (not that I'm a pro yet!).

Did you do the matte black surrounds? Looks like it.

Wasn't going to do LEDs in the strips...one of the Tekarbon options is to smoke the strips...light, medium, and dark I think.

Yes mine are matte black Mike.

I didn't smoke the strips.
I had them silver paint the orange signal globes to get rid of the orange egg yoke look.
( they still light up legal orange)
I like the clear lens strip on the bottom.

These are also my DRLs.
There is no inner headlamp 'on' when car is running, which really adds to the dual halo look.

These are custom rings; not OE.

Hehe yeah more demon than angel lol. Best part was, I didn't have to go through all that hassle in sending my headlights in
I went down to SoCal half a week early prior to a Buttonwillow track day to have Tekarbon work on my car. That was back in late August. Hopefully they last as long as my CCFLs on the E46, because I've had those since 2007 and they're still going strong

Led will last longer and are more reliable than ccfl.

haha yeah they're in Pasadena somewhere. Forget the exact location, but if you can get in contact with Eric then you should be able to set up an appointment. It'll take him a couple of days to finish the headlight and wiring work. The way he wires it is clean, but you'll have to add in your own remote feature for fade in/out. The remote feature is like a $20-some part off Ebay (which includes a dual-throw switch), then you can tap into existing wiring config and run a line into the passenger side glovebox area (through a hole in the firewall), and tap into the footwell light. Since the footwell light is connected to the rest of the interior light, your angel eyes will run with the courtesy lights for as long as there's no secondary power (i.e. the ignition line, etc.)
That's what the switch is for. Basically I have mine wired up so that at ignition position 2 and above, the angel eyes run off ignition and remain on. Once I dip below ignition position 2, the angel eyes will only be on if my courtesy lights are on.

Or so I thought...but I've heard some LED rings burning out prematurely
And not the entire ring either, which makes things worse IMHO.

Looks good. They were pretty cheap on the E92 M3. I got them last year. Much better than the OEM older yellow/white. Sorry old iPhone quality pic. lol
I had a bunch of coding to have certain lights on while in parking light mode.

.......
You don't have to do all that.
Just tap into the relay box in the engine bay.
Mine come on with ignition & time out with headlight delay.
5min job no extra parts.
