FWIW....

IDK how long a drive that is but, this 60 weight oil takes a long time to warm up to full operating temp.
I find on my car that its a solid 20min

Yeah, I know there are other variables. The gas station is about 4 miles each way, but I let the car warm up for 3-4 minutes while I was putting tools away, etc.

The oil temp gauge was up to around 140 F - don't ask me what that is in Celsius - when I returned from getting beer....oh, and gas. I will check it again the next time I drive it, when the oil is nice and warm. Unfortunately that will be a week or so with all the rain around here.

But aerobod's point was well made and he was trying to help. Thanks to all.

Interestingly my 2004 Z4 manual (3.0i) says 6.5 litres capacity...with filter change. If you are only putting in 5.5 litres you are 1 litre short/down...

6.9 quarts/6.5 litres......

The S54 is entirely different and there is a tech memo out on this.

If you do not have a Z4M, you do not have a dipstick on your 2006 Z4.
