Is this what you have?

Data CD contains:
(Folder)Album 01 contains:
(Music) a.mp3
(Music) b.mp3

(Folder)Album 02 contains:
(Music) c.mp3
(Music) d.mp3

Pop disc in, press 'M' (display shows something like FLD001, I forgot), press > (display now shows FLD002), press 'M' (display now shows TRK001), press > again, and you should be playing d.mp3.

That is correct. If you embedded folders only the folder with the songs in it shows. The player will not let you use the heirarchy of folders if you do them several deep (like I like to do )

BSZ, I don't know what to tell you. Take a picture so we can see what you are doing and what system you have perhaps?

BSZ, ur thumbnail shows that you have a 2003 Z4? I did not think the MP3 capability was added until 2005. I know when I picked up my 2005, the dealer was not even aware that feature had been added to the cars. I had to put a MP3 disk in and figure it out myself. If you have a car that is older, you may have the capability but it may have changed a bit. The MP3 in my 2008 Z4 works differently than what I had in my 2005 Z4.

Great! Glad it works now. The 2005 model will only display track numbers and not ID3 track names. The 2008 model will. The problem now is the 2008 will not display folder (album) names. Seems like this could have been easily resolved. I had a 328i for the weekend and the system in that car has much better audio navigation. You could see all track names, folder names, and even use subfolders. I guess BMW chose not to update the audio since it is close to EOL.

I actually took another look today, and mine is actually TR01-001 as well. Sorry for the mix up. (2005 Z4 2.5i)

Sweet, it works! (I didn't believe it until I tried it)

Mine says TR 001-001 also, the first number being the folder and the 2nd number being the track.

My '05 displays the artist, album and song title on the NAV screen when I play mp3 CD's. I've had several warranty items replaced in regards to the radio, nav, computer, etc....so perhaps that's why mine works differently.

You guys know if there is a limit to the number of tracks on the disk that the CDP can handle? I created one with over 100+ tracks, and it will not play. I have one with like 60ish, and it plays, but only once in awhile.

Unless the issue really is medium. I use some red sony CDRs.

UGH... I want so bad! What issues were you having for them to replace those items?

Someone mentioned only 08's displaying folder names, but I'd be happy with even just track names... anybody get their 07 to display track names?
