And they're on about the subwoofer?
OMFG
I'd be on about the rod bearings.

From the comments...

Quote:
Former Z4 owner here and I agree with your post. There’s another problem with boosting these that I don’t see addressed anywhere... the rest of the drivetrain. The Z4 didn’t have enough room for the beefier clutch, gearbox and (IIRC) driveshaft of the M3 with the same engine, so it retained the stock Z4 pieces. It was already somewhat questionable pushing 340hp into those parts. I definitely would not want to be pushing more without at least a good clutch upgrade, and there’s just no mention of that. For all of the researching I did during my years of ownership the conclusion I came out with was that this is a simply a poor platform for forced induction applications (sorry ESS).

Article says the coupe is 100 lbs lighter than roadster. Classic Jalopnik.

Someone in the comments hit on a very valid point. The car has a mixture of some VERY quality and nice mods. The wheels, the wing (a Varis/VRS?!), a working supercharger that passes smog?!! I suspect this car originally came from a well intentioned enthusiast. Then you look at the eye-lid, subs, black-out tail lights, mis-matching shifter boot and some random poorly executed "mods," and you start to think the current owner didn't really know what he/she's got on their hands.

I suspect, if someone were adventurous enough to dig through past posts here, they might find this car belonging to a member here in past live.

Jerks. It's 100kg lighter, not 100lbs.

Love the interior combo extended leather with imola red seats and exterior alpine white, but dislike the shifter boot combo, what was that owner thinking. That Wingggg tough! Wish I had one of those

The M Coupe is not listed there. It's a bit chubbier than the roadie. But again, not by much. The roadster top and gear pretty much equals the extra metal on the coupe. Not that surprising; a lot of times the roadies are heavier due to extra bracing, but the Z4 was designed as a roadster at the outset. The coupe benefitted by being one of the stiffest chassis of its era.

True story.............

The coupe on Si form is listed at 10kg more than a roadie and the iron 3.2 is listed at 100-110kg more than an alloy Si in the roadie.
Couple of hundred # difference

And its all in the nose. This is why I keep telling people about the marked difference between the responsiveness of the front end of the si vs the M.
