Rev dip and a few other questions...

I've had my 2006 Z4M for a few weeks now and noticed that when I blip the throttle when stationary the revs will dip slightly giving a delay before it throttles up - is this normal?

I've also found when I go to pull away at junctions it often stalls unless I give it high revs, seems again this is due to the dip in revs when I go to pull away rather than poor clutch control

The car has only done 16,000 miles...

Hello, I think it is normal, my Z4M has it too. When I push the gaspedal very fast and emidiately let go, there is a slight delay, the revs don't match with the gas pedal, even with sport button on it is the same, once reving my car is very responsive also when I'm driving.

Sometimes when I push the gas at about 3000rpm while I'm driving the car holds back and after 2seconds it accelerates normal?

Thanks for the reply, glad to hear it sounds like it's normal.. I get a delay at around 3,000rpm as well - almost like turbo lag, if it had one.

What you guys are talking about does not sound normal to me. I have put over 40k miles on may car and never noticed any hesitation under acceleration. For it to lag for 2 seconds is an eternity, you should take it in and have them look at it.

If I leave my car in sport it is stupid responsive. Like if I am being an idiot and forget its in sport I burn on on accident a bit (if DSC is off)... Your problem does not sound normal. That wouldn't have been normal even in my 335...

Hello David,

You say that you have the feeling that your car has a turbo lag a about 3000rpm. When I accelerate let us say in third gear at about 3000rpm the car responds wel en at around 4500rpm you must feel an extra boost coming from the vanos.

What you can do is buy a new air filter, air mass sensor, and let your vanos check.

"I've had my 2006 Z4M for a few weeks now and noticed that when I blip the throttle when stationary the revs will dip slightly giving a delay before it throttles up - is this normal?"

I have the exact same thing, and that is very normal I think, under acceleration my car never hesitates and is very responsive, with the sport button even more.

Switch back to the OEM air filters and see if the problem is still there...
