coolant problem

got a 2005 z4 2.5. It had been in an accident finally got it running and now a new problem arose. It started overheating. I saw that the there was no coolant in it. Poured some in, 15 minutes after driving. Car is overheating again, the sign for no coolant turns on. I open the hood and the coolant is everywhere around the expansion tank. Does the water pump run the coolant through the expansion tank? if so could it just be a cracked expansion tank? here are 2 pics i took right after adding coolant and driving for 10 minutes.

You, Sir, definitely have a leak. Whether that is a cracked tank, or a cracked hose / fitting, that is the question. Time to seek professional help.

So I changed the coolant reservoir. Kept on leaking. Decided to changed the coolant reservoir cap and it fixed the problem. Glad it was an easy fix.
