GoPro Mic Test
I've been recording my track day sessions for a few years now and while I've been able to improve on the video quality and data acquisition capabilities, the one area that's always been subpar is the sound quality. I finally bought an external microphone and decided to test it out on my 135is (sorry but PPK + DCT + Performance Exhaust >> N52 with any exhaust).
Let me know your thoughts, I'm pretty happy with the quality. I mounted the microphone on my rear bumper, few inches above the muffler. Hardware: GoPro Hero3+ Black and Audio-Technica PRO 24 mic |

Very nice. How is battery consumption? I use the cheaper ATR-3350 condenser mic mounted in the same place. My exhaust is very loud though, so I still get clipping even at idle.

We'll find out but I did buy a 20 pack of batteries that I keep in the car. I actually tried the ATR 3350 but got mixed results, and I hated how the wiring would always get tangled lol.

Yeah the 3350 is just OK. Not the best but it's very cheap, and yeah that cable it comes with is comically long. I actually found that after a firmware update or something on the GoPro, the in camera mic sounds much better than it did with the factory firmware. Out of the box there were some issues with how it handled low frequencies (it ended up just clipping the entire audio, sounded like shit).
