wtb: pin insert jackstands
hey guys,
went out last night to buy some jack stands but all of them seemed to be very cheap and had that ratcheting design that i wasn't looking for... I know tire rack has the kind of jack stands where you insert a pin to select height level and that is what i want, but on their website you cannot buy them separately unless you purchase their jack as well (unless someone knows how, please tell me), so does anyone know another company that makes/sells these? If not in Canada then online would be great, Thanks

Griots sells them, though I'm not sure about the pricing.
They've at least got free shipping right now... http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...rrivals&page=1 |

With Pal on the EC/Esco...simply the best and safest out there. This will get flamed for going to high end for stands, but thats OK...I can take it. I have used Craftsman, Wal Mart, and others for these 40 years etc and did fine on most cars when I could place the stands ON/UNDER the front suspension A arms on each side...no problem. AND was dealing with Brit cars, but you cannot do that with the Z. It's heavier, I am older now, and said, hey, I am going to get the kind that are four square, flat headed for the blocks on Z and be done with it. I have not regretted the $ I paid...others might, and thats fine, but these are by far some of if not the best. Good luck..there are lots of buys out there...just get the one that will fit BEST under the blocks. If you get the metal inserts available that can fill those blocks and make a flatter platform for the jack you still need a jack that does not have a curved or concave top, IMHO...again bests on the search.

More like $100 a stand which includes shipping in Canada. Contact Flemming @ 1 800 437 4422 he is located in B.C and is excellent too deal with. I just got a set from him. I wasnt overly impressed with the quality of the welding though but maybe im just picky. Very stable though and im sure they are good for like 3000lb each. He also sells the AC jacks but I went with the Ranger jack because of the huge price difference, hope this helps Boyd

The problem with the TireRack/Griots/Big Red/Torin aluminium pin style jacks is that the lip seems just a little narrower than the plastic OE jack points. I have a pair of these though as they are easy to package into a rectangular box to carry to the track.
AC seemed to have pulled out of the jack stands market when I was shopping so went with ESCO. http://www.acjacks.com/acjacks_004.htm |
