I think my ATF pan is leaking... :(

Had a little puddle in the original spot, I move the car and after 3 days, I got this smaller puddle... Looks like towards the rear of the pan, its wet looking.. Anything else around there that would leak ?

First I though it was oil, but the oil plug was way up front

Anyone had this issue before ? I hope it's something small

Glad you caught it. That plastic pan assembly is filter, pan and gasket in one (I'm not sure if it is a oring type of material or a harder rubber). I'd suggest takin the pan off and inspecting for a crack, or hopefully a loose or missing bolt. It would only cost you the replacement fluid.

Worse case scenario a new pan/filter combo will cost about $260 from Tisher or BavAuto.

Glad you're under warranty. Keep us posted on if it's a cracked pan or bad gasket or missing bolt.

I'm going to take a wild @ss guess, you let me know if I'm right or wrong.

This is a 2006 or later Z4, post face-lift, correct?

D'uh. The warranty expiration date should have been a dead give-away.

Part number 1 on the diagram, PN 24347588725...A Mechatronic sealing sleeve, a $17 dollar part, is broken. NORMAL. All post facelift automatic Z4s will eventually suffer the same fate.

Yeap, its a 07.. i dl some docs, looks like they'll need to drop the pan? if it is, its like a free ATF change unless they decide to recycle my fluids.. hahah

Thanks for the info... good to know.

Happens often enough for me to know exactly what it is when I figured out the car's a post facelift.

My tech sheet after the repair only said top off ATF. No listing of fluid change.

I'm assuming from the other instruction that they're going to remove pan.. if they remove pan, they gotta drain the old ones out right ? and hopefully they dont top off using the old fluids.. so its like a DIY fluid change..

When I had mine fixed they said they had to let it cool down and were going to replace the seal. No mention of new fluid on the tech sheet. I would guess they would have noted it if they replaced all the fluid. Ask the service guy. Good luck
