Wondering if anyone is interested in a group buy for z4 M cf hood. I was talking to Edward, the president of Carbonfiberhoods.com. Trying to get an estimate of how much it could cost to make cf M hood for us.

I might be interested. Are we talking a replacement hood or just a layover skin? Clearcoat with weave visible or to be painted?

Yea. I'm just trying to get the price down. He told me just to make one around 5k and he needs a donor hood.

TC Kline also makes a Z4 full carbon hood but it is the smoother non-M version for their race cars.

I have the M hood in the parts line-up for CF but have yet to locate a suitable donor hood or the deals fall through.

Looks like another part I'll just have to buy outright. We have doors coming to me through the group purchased door buy via Villa for CF construction. But I'd doubt the forum will go for a hood as well until they see some production of doors for their respective outlay of funds. Which is quite reasonable I feel.

If someone runs across a M Z$ hood, please consider informing me for the greater good of the groups CF collective !

problem with *most* CF hoods on the market is that they are not structural CF
Most are F/G cores with overlayed CF.

....definitely not interested.

Okay guys this is he's responds:

We can make the hood overseas through carbon creations, the price would only be $400+ a donor hood. The downside is the long turn around time of approximately 8 months.

Thanks and have a great day,
Edward Tilbury - President--Carbonfiberhoods.com

I think $400 isn't bad at all for a M version hood. Let me know if any of you can donor a hood. lol

That's not bad at all. Someone get them a donor! haha. I would be painting mine if I got one since it's a cheaper alternative to an OEM for us non M owners.

I can see how this would be great for non-M owners. For M owners there's not much incentive, as the weight will probably be identical to stock since we already have an aluminum hood. There is some dent resistance in CF that aluminum doesn't have though.

It really depends on what their construction would be.. No point of going CF, just for the looks

I totally agree. For me to choose between cf M version and oem non M. I would Definitely go with the aftermarket cf M hood.

I'm still trying to track down a M hood for donor. This might take awhile. The cheapest I found was 1g...that's just insane
