For those who run RS3s
What size tires are you running on stock suspension, 18" OEM wheels.
I think I can get 275, 245s under, but because the RS3s are very square on the side wall, I don't know if I'll rub or not. These are for purely autocrossing. Thank you in advance. Last edited by Kgolf31; 08-09-2011 at 11:19 AM.. |

Folks have been running Star Specs in those widths on stock suspensions without issue IIRC. You could always check the section width of the 'Specs against the RS3s section width (assuming they use the same measured wheel size) to get an idea.
Obviously, someone with IRL experience would be better, but it might be worth a look. |

The RS3s are the same in the fronts and .1" less in the rear. I should be fine then I guess. Thank you. First hand experience will still be nice |

I cant give any input on your tire size, but let me just say that these are awesome tires for the money! Not quite R comp grip, but for like 60% of the cost (in my case - 17's) you are really getting some bang for the buck.

Can't speak for stock suspension but with a solid drop and Apex wheels I run that size in a NT01 which is also a very wide square shoulder. It rubbed quite a bit, took the fender roller and flared the rear fenders about 1/2" and trimmed the inside of the plastic portion of the liner. No more rubbing. On the the front I let it clearance itself, a bit of rubbing on the plastic liner near the bumper, which quickly wore through, not that big a deal IMO.

Your offset will be the determining factor IMO.
I run 245f/275r Nitto NT-01s and they've got a square shoulder as any tire plus they run WIDE and even on stock suspensio and on coil overs there's little to no rub. There's a slight "touching" of the trailing arm when under extreme loads, like maximum slip angle where the tire deflects several cm in. And those were extreme cases with stock alignment numbers. On a tire that usually run wider than spec.

I think I may just run 235/265 for now until I can confirm personally that I'll have enough clearance. I can't afford to order tires that are over spec and rub.
These tires are going to be driven hard on, so I can't/don't want any rub |
