whats the size of your belt?
My belt size is 2334 . They just messed up , and are overnighting me the correct crank pulley as soon as its made (my car is down until then ) . Apparently the 130mm with the 79mm is what the 500 kit used, this the mix up . The first time they sent an 85mm SC pulley so it was way off . I thought my shop messed when they said they had to use a smaller belt, but they didn't . I had just ordered new crank and DC pulleys with a new belt at my own cost bc I wasn't sure and then got the correct SC pulley but the incorrect crank pulley , with the correct belt . So again it didn't fit ( very loose) . When I called ESS and measured everything they figured out the last batch of 135mm pulleys was really 130mm . (They have no correct 135mm in house currently so if you recently got a kit it is likely wrong)
So frustrated right now. They are obviously refunding me the cost of the new belt and pulleys I ordered with shipping .
George.
Ess seem to have a stock control issue..... Read a few times now that incorrect parts have been sent out .......

Well, I am here at the shop to check the pulley sizes. My belt is 40mm longer than yours, so there has to be different size pulleys than your kit.

I am saying that it must have the wrong pulleys if our cars have a 40mm difference in belt sizes.

Guess so...... :-( again the setup on the car was the supplied setup from ess, I've made no changes at all.... I have a 5lbs pulley , and 10lbs pulley ( from vortech which needs machining to ess spec)
And the current pulley setup with gives around 8.5lbs.......

My crank pulley is 130mm, which according to George is for the 500 kit. I will be emailing them to resolve this issue.

Interesting even if you had the 135mm crank your belt is longer than mine , I have a 2334, which Is the correct size today from ESS ?????? I emphasize today lol. A larger 5mm diameter crank pulley makes up a lot of slack but prob not that much . What size is your SC pulley ? ESS to their credit next AM'd the crank to me so ill have my car back running tomorrow night .

My sc pulley is the correct size that you stated and they are over nighting the correct pulley and crank pulley today. Now it explains my 6psi. Thanks George for figuring this out. We may have never figured it out.

Quick question: how often do you guys clean your air filter with your ESS VT kit?

Mine needs to be clean almost every oil change (5000km in my case...) or almost every month/2 months. It's weird how my air filter get dirty way faster FI than NA. Maybe the pick up location has something to do with this.

If its that bad, you could get the socks that they sell that go over the filter, so you could pull off and clean and put back on through the grill.

Mines new, so I haven't inspected it yet.

Btw, are you keeping it?

Definitely get the filter cover it makes it really simple to clean off all the rubber from riding up peoples ass on track

What is this filter cover you are talking about? Comes from ESS or generic?

Maybe my limp mode were cause by the clogged filter the other day?? I will need to go back on the track to know for sure.

I still want to sell the kit and go back to NA. When I purchased the car, I didn't planned to do that much track days but I am a track junkie

I think I can do differents things to the car and do the same lap time at the track with less HP. My E46 M3 had 304whp and I was 4s faster at LCMT than my M Coupe... Car can be fun with headers and 4.10.

I did a lot of DE/lapping in the past but I really prefer Time Attack. And now the SC kit bumps me in the unlimited class which required Nomex, rollbar/cage, race seat, harness, ... I prefer to detune the car a bit and participate to this serie next year and have fun!

Like this. Generic and lots of companies like K&n make them.

They say not. I can't think that K&N would create something that restricted flow, since they are all about there's increase flow and hp.

It is just to keep bugs and larger particles from getting wedged in the grooves.
