ESS 525 installed
Haven't been able to get on it, since its raining today oddly in June. Will give feed back later this week.
What I have noticed so far: -very driveable and doesn't feel like crazy hp below 5000 rpms in 4th gear. -idle is a little auscilating at times. Not sure if this is normal. -a little whinny but I am not sure if it is better than the sound of an air intake mod. -makes less noise through the euro headers as before FI -the parts are a very tight fit in the front of the car. More later this week. |

*my rpms fluctuate by about 50 up and down sometimes, not un-usual. New coils and plugs do not help *my afe intake sounded much deeper. This is more like an airline jet sound. You learn to like it. Sounds best at full throttle high RPMs

sean i get no fluctuation at all during idle its rock steady..... Tq is very good on my 500 kit which is admittedly making way more boost than it should.... keep an eye on the clips... boost leaks are so obvious on this kit as performance drops like a stone!!
heres an idle clip.... from 1.50 onwards.... note it doesn't move an inch!! ignore the rest.... the blower sounds like shit during breakin and some of them continue to make a tin can rattle.... mine got much better after i did the initial 2000 mile oil change, intake noise i dont get the jet sound really.... the exhaust drowns it out, from inside the cabin it sounds like it did before with a muffled Blow off noise.... adaption did take ages.... dont be afraid to explore the rev range, it needs to adapt everywhere just be mechanically "respectful"

Thanks for the tips guys. With the odd June pouring rain, I have only put 30 miles on it. I will keep you updated later. I was just giving initial impressions and I haven't had it above 4500 rpms with the rain.
I wasn't sure if it was going to adapt, since it is Alpha N now. I did find some Setrab cooling ducts (commonly used on the porsches, which I am thinking about how it can be modified to increase its cooling if needed for the track guys: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ct3640x480.jpg http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/i...4760_popup.jpg |

Very glad to hear i'm not the only one haha. After initially installing it and driving around I thought there was almost no upgrade but now after putting on a solid 400KM the car is a lot more open.

Well, I will say that the car doesn't scare the hell out of me, so I would have definitely been unhappy with the ESS 445. The torque is great 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, but for me and 100 miles seems to not pull very hard in the upper gears (nice, but as Beedub says "i always want more power.")
I have the P3 gauge coming this week, so I will be able to make sure the AFR's are in-line, as well as being able to check on the boost. I have heard that the intercooler is susceptible to leaks. It is very drivable. Oil temperatures are 10-15 degrees higher than it used to be, which i think is mostly because of the oil cooler not having a low pressure behind it. I will be fixing that, and showing updates. |

consider meth/water injection huge gains to be had.. my oil temps are cooler 90% of the time compared to stock and it manages really well at the track too, recovery times are excellent, then again the sprint work my car see's are very hard but shortish timed laps.... i really need to get rid of the stock cats as i think they are restricting my final HP number, sadly right now money is super tight!! ( always the way) Consider a catch can, the amount of oil that finds it way back into the system is alarming imo.... i STILL get some even with a very effective CC install but a good deal is caught so i'm happy with that!! good luck and enjoy....

Is more vibration common at idle? It is noticeable while sitting at a light. Not annoying. Just noticeable.
The bottom middle clamp came off. The reason that I noticed it, is I was unsatisfied on how much was able to be clamped, so I ordered a longer silicon hose on initial install and better clamps that I put on today. This might help, if there was pressure loss. Also, I have a duct being made for the oil cooler. It will also close of the area behind it between the radiator which should flow better. I will take pics and let you know if it drops the oil temperatures a little. |
