FI guys, air intake placement.

Hi guys, just wanted to ask youse a favour and was wondering how you guys have your air intake placed in your SC setups. I believe a lot of you guys run it through the left plastic inner guard over the left front wheel? is that right?

The reason i ask, is that my CSL snorkel is nicely placed, but would ultimately like to run some more forced clean air in there..

anyone have some pics of how your getting air?

cheers

Atm, my intake sits 90 percent over the OEM air intake outlet into the engine bay. Needless to say, id like more forced cold air into this area.. and since the intake for the csl snorkel is about 4 times the size of the OEM one, looking for options..

what i would really like to do is run the front left fang bumper intake directly to the csl snorkel, but thats gonna take some major plumbing.. and as my car has been off the road now for about 2 plus weeks, is going to have to be a project for another time. In the end i want to run an extra oil cooler through the other fang intake.

any pics of where your getting air from?

on my ESS setup the supercharger is coupled to a flexible hose, if then fed into the grill area which is enclosed from the engine bay and picks up a nice stream of fresh air from that area, it'd a PITA to service but really is a nice area for it to be.

On my non-M, I have mine next to the driver's headlight, which is where the OEM intake pulls its air. I believe the ESS VT2-500 Z4M pulls its air from the same place. The G-Power Z4M has its own tuna-can-looking intake that's aft of the radiator fan, but in the same vicinity.

I personally don't buy the ram air hype. If it worked, it would be OEM. That's not to say it doesn't help, but I don't think it's worth the time or money.

I also have mine positioned right next to the driver-side (left-hand side) headlight, just behind the driver-side snorkel. I even removed a lot of the OEM plastic that was blocking air flow, so it should see more air than normal.

It is dirty and needs replacement though
I believe I can just get a replacement K&N cone filter.

I agree.
Getting free flowing cool air is one thing, but ram air is way over hyped IMO.
(I've played around with both)
